Prakash Industries, a Himachal-based provider of PP, self-adhesive, security, metalized, specialty, and barcode labels, has installed a NovaSmart label press manufactured by Alliance Printech. This is the fourth label press acquired by Prakash Industries from the Faridabad-based Alliance.

The 36-year-old Prakash Industries provides its label solutions to almost the entire Himachal Pradesh from its two production bases in the DIC Industrial Area, Baddi. The company bought the first label press in 2016, which cemented the base for a good relationship with Alliance Printech, says Sanjay Bhasin, director. Before the Alliance press, the label provider had a locally-made machine and a Mark Andy press.

I began my business with electrical insulation tapes. The urge to do something of my own drove me. However, as an electrical engineer, I realized that the business wouldn’t suit my palette. Moreover, the electrical insulation tapes belong to the chemical industry by nature. So I shut it down and in 1995, I started a business in label stock. In 2005, we were the first label providers to pharma industries in Himachal Pradesh.”

According to Bhasin, Alliance Printech kept adding to its capacity and production and Prakash Industries grew alongside. He says no other provider in Baddi possesses an offline inspection system and four lines for label printing. “Any roll that we supply does not go out before a proper inspection. There could be a delay in supply due to inspection but compromising on quality is something we have zero tolerance for.”

Prakash Industries also serves the cosmetics industry, which is looked after by Bhasin’s son and CEO Anubhav Bhasin. Anubhav says the best part of their relationship with Alliance Printech is that the manufacturer understands the problems of its customers. “If we request any assistance or maintenance on a machine, our problem is solved within a day or two.”

Bhasin says competition in the label industry is growing at a rapid rate. “When we started the business, I was like the sole provider. The players in the space have risen at a very fast pace. We, however, have an advantage as one of the oldest solution providers. The relations, business partners, and supporters we made back then are still consistent. If one works honestly, nothing can hinder their path.”
