Asahi Kasei Europe joined Plastics Europe Germany, a leading association of plastics producers in Germany, in December 2023.
Since its foundation in 2016 as the European headquarters of the Japanese technology group Asahi Kasei, Asahi Kasei Europe has been developing and marketing engineering plastics and fibers, particle foams and other functional materials for the automotive industry and other areas of application.
The location is also an innovation hub for the Asahi Kasei Group companies in Europe. To further foster the relationship with the European plastics industry, Asahi Kasei Europe joined Plastics Europe Germany in December 2023.
“As a chemical company and plastics producer, Asahi Kasei has a responsibility to contribute to a more sustainable society. This requires new technical developments, but also cooperation and an open exchange with other companies. In 2002, Asahi Kasei developed the world’s first manufacturing method that uses CO2 as raw material for the production of polycarbonate. Today, 15% of the global polycarbonate production uses this production technology. From my point of view, Asahi Kasei can serve as a driver for the development of products and product grades to open up new businesses and application areas for the European market,” comments Ingemar Bühler, executive director, Plastics Europe Germany.
