Vinsak Group, a Navi Mumbai-based manufacturer and supplier of printing and packaging machines, participated in the Print Expo 2024 exhibition hosted at Chennai Trade Centre from 22-24 August. Organized by Messe Frankfurt, the three-day show was especially crowded on the second day with serious sales inquiries. The company showcased its table-top rewinder (TTR) technology with thermal inkjet technology (TIJ) focused on short-run converters.
The Vinsak TTR has been specifically developed to offer a robust tabletop rewinder with many features normally found on larger, more expensive inspection/slitting equipment. Accurate tension control settings can be achieved with independent air-operated unwind and rewind tension controls.

It is equipped with pneumatically inflating mandrels that ensure a positive grip without distorting the label core and finished reel. The table top can be tilted towards the operator for increased flexibility and easy operation. The TIJ system makes variable data printing easy.
According to Rajesh Khatwani, general manager of sales, who has more than 22 years of experience in the label industry, the Indian manufacturing sectors are growing at a phenomenal pace and the packaging printing industry is on an upward trajectory in production and scaling.
“We are looking at emerging markets such as Chennai, which are becoming more industrialized and sophisticated with expansions. We participated in this show to know more about the market requirements and the spaces manufacturers can fill,” he said.
The company is promoting the rotary web-offset segment in the Indian markets, which could prove to be a game changer for security printing. Offset printing can be either rotary or sheet-fed, depending on whether the paper or other material to be printed on is supplied in reels or sheets.

Rotary offset presses are web-fed, coupled to the press, continuously feed the substrate at high speed and minimize waste of both material and ink. These are aimed at short-run flexible and in-mold label packaging printing.
Packaging South Asia had earlier reported about the Vinsak Group acquiring Rotatek, a European printing machinery manufacturer for labels, packaging, and folding cartons, in July 2023.
Speaking on the acquisition, Khatwani said, “With this acquisition, we have forayed into the web-offset industry. The adoption of web-offset technology has been rapid in global markets, especially for in-mold labels with security features. We are investing in this technology to better serve the Indian market.”
