Abhay Sheth Technologies is strengthening its position in India’s flexible packaging machinery market with a renewed focus on mid-segment solutions and emerging opportunities in aseptic liquid packaging, Miti Sheth, chief operating officer, said during an interaction at PlastIndia 2026.
The company currently represents two international manufacturers, China-based Huilong Plastic Machinery and Corstar, as part of its strategy to offer a balanced portfolio of extrusion, lamination and blown film technologies.
Sheth said the company has been the exclusive representative of Huilong Plastic Machinery for over two decades in India and the subcontinent. Huilong specializes in extrusion, coating and lamination systems and has helped the company build a strong foothold in the aseptic packaging segment.
A newer addition to its portfolio is Corstar, also from China, which manufactures 3 to 11-layer blown film machines. Sheth said Corstar differentiates itself through tight quality control, with complete in-house manufacturing, from design to assembly, supported by its own CNC infrastructure.
Bridging the market gap
According to Sheth, the partnership with Corstar aims at addressing a clear gap in the Indian market between low-end domestic machines and high-cost European equipment.
“Our expertise lies in the mid-segment, where we offer reliable machines at competitive prices with faster return on investment,” she said, adding the same positioning will be replicated in the blown film segment.
She said Abhay Sheth Technologies follows a selective approach to partnerships, prioritizing technological strength over purely commercial considerations. The company works exclusively with chosen principals and focuses on long-term collaborations.
Founded by industry veteran Abhay Sheth, the company is associated with the flexible packaging sector for nearly five decades. Its long-standing relationships with global suppliers and a strong customer database have contributed to its market leadership, Sheth said.
Aseptic packaging seen as next growth frontier
Sheth expressed strong optimism about the Indian flexible packaging industry’s future over the next three to five years, particularly highlighting aseptic liquid packaging as a high-growth segment.
A significant volume of laminate-based packaging, especially for mass-market alcoholic beverages, is still being imported from China. This presents an opportunity for domestic manufacturers to invest in local aseptic packaging facilities, particularly in southern and western India, she noted.
The company has already supplied an aseptic liquid packaging line to some important companies in the segment. Sheth described this as a validation of the company’s technology, noting that acceptance by a major dairy brand underscores the reliability of its solutions.
PlastIndia as a strategic platform
Sheth described PlastIndia as a key industry platform for customer engagement, networking and technology introduction. Having attended the exhibition since childhood due to her family’s involvement in the business, she said the event continues to play a critical role in connecting existing and potential clients.
“It is a strong networking ground where customers meet each other, exchange references and explore new technologies,” she said, adding that Indian buyers are particularly receptive to new solutions during trade fairs.
Expansion along the value chain
Looking ahead, Abhay Sheth Technologies plans to expand its partnerships across the flexible packaging value chain, while continuing to focus on technology-driven collaborations.
The company is exploring opportunities in greenfield projects, especially in aseptic liquid packaging, as part of its broader growth strategy.
Sheth said future partnerships will depend on identifying the right technology providers with strong capabilities and a long-term vision aligned with the company’s approach.
