Anuga FoodTec India and Anuga Select India 2025 opened on 20 August at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, bringing together one of South Asia’s largest gatherings of the food and beverage value chain. Organized by Koelnmesse India and running until 22 August, the twin Anuga expos arrive at a pivotal moment for the sector, with India’s food processing industry among the fastest growing globally and the government permitting 100% foreign direct investment in F&B.

The inauguration of Anuga was attended by senior dignitaries from India, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, DR Congo, and Thailand, alongside leaders from Koelnmesse GmbH and Koelnmesse India. Speakers highlighted India’s role as a hub for innovation, global trade partnerships, and technology-led growth.

India’s dairy sector, contributing a quarter of national food processing output and supporting 17 million farmers, was spotlighted for its role in driving rural prosperity. Officials noted initiatives such as White Revolution 2.0, which aims to establish 75,000 new cooperatives by 2028-29. International representatives emphasized opportunities in dates from Saudi Arabia, agri-food and natural resources from DR Congo, and South Africa’s processed food and beverage exports, underscoring the event’s role in fostering global partnerships.

The Anuga exhibitions feature over 1,100 companies, including Parag Milk Foods, Tata Consumer Products, Milky Mist, Society Tea, Syntegon, Mespack, and Alfa Laval, alongside dedicated pavilions from more than 15 countries. Associations such as AIFPA, AFSTI, IFCA, and SIES School of Packaging are supporting the Anuga platform.

Knowledge-sharing remains a strong focus, with the F&B Manufacturing Conference addressing automation and energy efficiency, the India Food Supply Summit discussing food security and cold chain logistics, and the Culinary Corner featuring chefs such as Zeba Kohli and Shipra Khanna. Live demonstrations, a product launch showcase, and the debut of ScaleUp Palate — spotlighting India’s emerging food entrepreneurs — added to the program.

The outlook for India’s food processing and packaging machinery market was also highlighted. German companies, accounting for 42% of India’s imported packaging machinery, are increasingly collaborating through modular designs, energy-efficient technologies, and R&D partnerships. Meanwhile, Indian firms such as Paras Dairy and Lyallji Foods used the platform to announce new product launches and expansion plans across domestic and international markets at the Anuga shows.
