Renowned Indian board producer B&B Triplewall Containers in Tamil Nadu has chosen to partner with Voith with the order of a BlueLine OCC stock preparation and advanced approach flow system for its Krishnagiri PM 1 line. With a capacity of 250 tons per day, the new stock preparation line will consistently supply high-quality OCC pulp for the production of stable containerboard. In addition, the full-line supplier Voith will provide engineering for the process and plant, as well as automation, and will supervise construction. The rebuilt plant is scheduled to start up before the end of 2022.

B&B Triplewall is among India’s biggest cardboard manufacturers, producing boxes and boards with the highest quality and wide variety. It is a family-owned company and a well-known packaging box manufacturer in the southern part of India. The current project is for a packaging paper manufacturing plant in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu.

Manish Bothra, director of B&B Triplewall Containers, affirms the company’s investment, “We are delighted to have Voith as our partner for this transformative diversification project for us. We are impressed by Voith’s know-how and experience in this field and the great feedback we have received from Voith’s many successful references in India. In addition to the superior technological base, one of the key factors in our decision was the local Voith Paper India team with its knowledge and on-site services.”

With the new order, Voith strengthens its market position in India, with several recent successes and orders making for a high order backlog. Ashis Talukdar, head of Engineering, Voith Paper India, explains, “The good and close cooperation between the teams and the strong focus of B&B Triplewall Container’s management team to opt for the best quality products and systems were key factors that gave Voith another success story for its BlueLine OCC stock preparation system in India.”

“Voith is proud to work with B&B Triplewall Containers,” says Supratim Pan, Sales and Application manager at Voith Paper. “B&B Triplewall Containers sets standards in the papermaking field and is committed to project success, paving the way for a long-term partnership. Our BlueLine stock preparation system with proven and sustainable solutions will ensure the highest customer value and lowest total cost of ownership.”

Sustainable fiber and pulp processing at lowest cost of ownership

As part of the BlueLine stock preparation system, Voith will supply several innovative products developed for the most sustainable and efficient papermaking possible from a single source. Voith TwinPulp technology with the IntensaPulper offers maximum efficiency and minimizes fiber losses with the lowest energy input. InduraHiClean high consistency cleaners help remove heavy contaminants as well as smaller particles such as sand or stones in a safe way to protect the downstream machines in the process line for reliable and sustainable operation.

The screening system, consisting of the new generation IntegraScreen, FiberSorter, and IntegraCombiSorter with KS Cleaner, offers the highest possible screening efficiency with the lowest fiber losses. Very high efficiency and operational reliability in combination with low energy consumption are also offered by the InduraHiClean system, which is equipped with optimized backflushing technology from Voith. The IntegraScreen fine screening system with best-in-class C-bar screen baskets ensures maximum stickies removal and operational reliability with low energy consumption.

Other highlights of the system include the particularly reliable EFK thickener, which is almost maintenance-free throughout its service life. Low-intensity refining with Voith’s successful TwinFlo refiner and Pluralis refiner segments provides optimum results in fiber preparation for packaging paper. The two-layer approach flow system, consisting of the proven ComMix, HydroMix, and IntegraGuard screens, will contribute to consistent quality with high operational reliability.

The impact, resilience, and growth of responsible packaging in a wide region are daily chronicled by Packaging South Asia.

A multi-channel B2B publication and digital platform such as Packaging South Asia is always aware of the prospect of new beginnings and renewal. Its 16-year-old print monthly, based in New Delhi, India has demonstrated its commitment to progress and growth. The Indian and Asian packaging industries have shown resilience in the face of ongoing challenges over the past three years.

As we present our publishing plan for 2023, India’s real GDP growth for the financial year ending 31 March 2023 will reach 6.3%. Packaging industry growth has exceeded GDP growth even when allowing for inflation in the past three years.

The capacity for flexible film manufacturing in India increased by 33% over the past three years. With orders in place, we expect another 33% capacity addition from 2023 to 2025. Capacities in monocartons, corrugation, aseptic liquid packaging, and labels have grown similarly. The numbers are positive for most of the economies in the region – our platform increasingly reaches and influences these.

Even given the disruptions of supply chains, raw material prices, and the challenge of responsible and sustainable packaging, packaging in all its creative forms and purposes has significant headroom to grow in India and Asia. Our context and coverage engulf the entire packaging supply chain – from concept to shelf and further – to waste collection and recycling. We target brand owners, product managers, raw material suppliers, packaging designers and converters, and recyclers.

In an admittedly fragmented and textured terrain, this is the right time to plan your participation and marketing support communication – in our impactful and highly targeted business platform.
