Parkside adds sustainability portfolio to its offering in the Asia Pacific
Compostable packaging solutions

Flexible packaging specialist Parkside has added a sustainability portfolio to its offering in the Asia Pacific region to address new consumer trends emerging in the market.

The introduction of the new Parkside products boosts the recyclability of the company’s existing range of flexible packaging designs, which is used across a wide range of markets, including food and drink. The new range also incorporates the company’s award-winning collection of compostable packaging solutions, Park2Nature.

General Manager of Parkside Asia, Paula Birch, commented: “We are acutely aware of the shifting sustainability awareness of consumers in this region, and it’s vital that we are prepared to help brands adapt to this change in thinking.”

“It’s great to see the consumer now focusing on the importance of protecting the environment and reducing their dependence on single-use plastics. However, we must understand that packaging in all formats and materials is sustainable – it protects and preserves goods, minimizing waste and energy, and ultimately protects the environment from harmful product waste.”

Parkside’s range comprises three variants

The new sustainable packaging portfolio from Parkside comprises three variations of its Recoflex technology; a high barrier, single polymer laminate, ideal for recycling processes, which can be manufactured with paper, polypropylene (PP), or polyethylene (PE). Recoflex is suitable for various packaging applications, including pouches and flow wraps.

The range also contains the company’s leading Parkscribe reclose lidding films manufactured from >30% recycled polyethylene terephthalate (RPET). Suitable for use on PET trays, including fresh and cooked meats, fruit, and vegetables, this innovative solution creates a complete single polymer PET pack, ideal for recycling, and reduces waste in the home with its reclose design.

Paula added: “By strengthening the market’s push towards a circular economy, we can now produce a range of flexible packaging alternatives for brands that can be used in an array of applications where extended shelf-life through high barrier performance, and in some cases resealability, are essential.”
