Epson has expanded its industrial automation portfolio with the launch of its next-generation CX-A Series 6-axis robots, LS-C Series SCARA robots and RC+ 8.0 robot programming software at Automation Expo Mumbai 2026, while showcasing advanced vision-guided automation and safety technologies aimed at improving manufacturing productivity.

Claiming to be the world’s leading manufacturer of SCARA robots, the company said its latest solutions are designed to address a wide range of manufacturing applications, including pick-and-place, precision assembly, parts transfer, material handling and dispensing.

The new portfolio builds on Epson’s existing range of 6-axis C-Series robots and T-Series and LS-Series SCARA robots, expanding its automation offerings for industries seeking greater speed, flexibility and operational efficiency.

At the exhibition, Epson demonstrated a vision-based pick-and-place system that uses integrated cameras to detect the exact position and orientation of components before directing the robot to pick and place them accurately. The solution is suitable for applications such as carton packing, bottle handling, label placement and component assembly.

“We are showing a vision-based pick-and-place solution. It checks the exact orientation of the part before picking and placing it,” an Epson official said during a demonstration.

The company highlighted the integration of its robotics with Epson label printers, enabling robots to send variable data directly to the printer. This allows each label to be printed dynamically with unique information such as serial numbers, barcodes and product identifiers before being automatically applied.

Epson also demonstrated its SCARA robots for precision dispensing applications, including the application of sealants on complex automotive and industrial components. According to the company, the robots maintain a constant dispensing speed to ensure an even application of sealant across intricate surfaces.

To demonstrate the robot’s precision, Epson replaced the dispensing head with a pen, allowing visitors to observe how uploaded images are converted into robot coordinates to produce highly accurate movements.

The company showcased two SCARA robot models—the LA-3 and RS-3. According to the official, the RS-3 is particularly suited for high-speed handling of small components because one of its joints can rotate through 360 degrees, providing greater flexibility during pick-and-place operations.

“The RS-3 is better for small-part handling because the rotating joint offers additional flexibility,” the official said.

Among the key product launches was the CX-A Series, Epson’s latest high-end 6-axis robot platform designed for complex industrial applications. The robots offer payload capacities of up to 7kg, reaches of up to 900mm, and are available in IP67, cleanroom and electrostatic discharge (ESD) variants, making them suitable for precision assembly, machine tending and material handling.

The company introduced the LS-C Series SCARA robots, which support payloads of up to 50kg, reaches of up to 1,000mm and cycle times as fast as 0.298 seconds. Epson said the new series has been developed for high-speed pick-and-place, assembly and parts transfer applications requiring both speed and precision.

Complementing the hardware is the new RC+ 8.0 robot programming software, which provides an integrated platform for robot programming, simulation and system management. The software supports integration with Microsoft Visual Studio and C++ development environments and includes enhanced programming, diagnostics, OPC UA connectivity, GUI Builder and safety management functions, enabling faster deployment of automation systems.

Safety was another major focus of Epson’s exhibit, with the company showcasing its SafeSense technology for collaborative industrial environments. The system incorporates Safety Limited Speed (SLS) and Safety Limited Position (SLP) functions that allow robots to operate safely alongside workers while reducing the need for extensive safety fencing in suitable applications.

During the live demonstration, Epson used a LIDAR-based area sensor that automatically reduced the robot’s operating speed when a person entered a predefined safety zone. Once the operator moved away, the robot resumed full operating speed. A light curtain was also demonstrated, immediately pausing robot operation whenever the protected area was breached.

“The robot normally operates at high speed, but when someone enters the safety zone, it automatically slows down. This makes it suitable for environments where people and robots work together,” the Epson official explained.

According to Epson, SafeSense enhances operational flexibility by enabling closer human-robot collaboration without compromising safety, making it particularly valuable for modern manufacturing environments where manual and automated processes increasingly coexist.
