At this year’s Contract Manufacturing and Private Label (CMPL) show in Mumbai, Konica Minolta India showcased how it is bridging the gap between brands and high-end print service providers through its advanced digital and embellishment technologies.
In an interview with Packaging South Asia at the company stand, Vijay Kamat of Konica Minolta India explained how the company’s presence at a contract manufacturing-focused event aligns with its broader strategy to strengthen the ecosystem for its industrial printing customers.
“Konica Minolta has a dedicated industrial printing division where we offer high-end solutions such as the MGI digital embellishment presses and the AccurioJet KM-1e, a B2-format UV inkjet press,” Kamat said. “Our customers make significant investments in these technologies and need a steady flow of print jobs to fully utilize their capacity. We help them secure business directly from brands looking for premium, short-run, and specialized print solutions.”
The company’s offerings enable short-run label production, security printing, variable data printing, and track-and-trace applications. MGI technology adds effects such as UV textures and foiling, boosting shelf appeal and helping brands stand out.
The AccurioJet KM-1e can print on a wide range of challenging substrates — including Teflon, plastic media, textured, and uncoated papers — where many other presses fall short.
At the CMPL show, Konica Minolta displayed samples produced entirely by its customers using its technology, highlighting real-world applications and the flexibility these presses provide.
Kamat said contract manufacturing is a fast-growing segment and offers significant opportunities for both brands and converters. “Events such as CMPL attract a large number of brand owners searching for trusted manufacturing and packaging partners,” he said. “By being here, we act as a bridge, connecting our customers directly with these brands. This helps our customers secure additional print volume and enter new high-value market segments.”
He noted that some contract manufacturers already operate Konica Minolta presses, strengthening the company’s position in this dynamic segment.
The showcased samples included digital labels, MGI embellishment pieces, and prints from the AccurioJet KM-1e, each illustrating the machine’s ability to deliver high-quality results on specialty substrates.
“This is our second time participating in CMPL,” Kamat added. “After receiving an excellent response the first time, we knew it was important to return. The show serves as an effective platform for our customers to demonstrate their capabilities to brands looking for premium, innovative packaging and printing solutions.”
Beyond technology demonstrations, Konica Minolta’s presence at CMPL showcased its role as an enabler, creating a collaborative space where brands and converters can connect, exchange ideas, and explore possibilities for growth, Kamat said.
“Through CMPL, we are helping build a vibrant ecosystem where innovation meets demand,” Kamat said. “Ultimately, our goal is to empower our customers to deliver outstanding value to brands, while helping brands access the advanced printing capabilities they need to differentiate and grow.”
