FIG with 220 plus Mark Andy installations in the country is one of the biggest suppliers in the label business. “We have already installed four Mark Andy label presses and four Rotoflex slitter-rewinders in the first six months of 2014 while in 2013 we had finished five Mark Andy and three Rotoflex installations,” Gaurav Roy, MD of FIG, told Packaging South Asia in October 2014. The four label presses include two MA 2200L mechanical presses and two Performance series servo presses.
Rotoflex sales takes off
Since then FIG has installed many more Rotoflex machines taking the overall tally of postpress slitter-rewinders from Mark Andy installed during the year 2014 to seven. While Encana International installed one 10-inch 7-color Mark Andy P5 performance series narrow web press and one Rotoflex VSI 330 unit, Webtech Labels, now a part of the Huhtamaki Group of Finland and Zircon Technology, have installed two slitter-rewinders each.
Webtech Labels that has state-of-the-art M3 and M5 digital flexo gidue presses to produce very high quality labels for cosmetics and consumer goods has installed two Rotoflex VSI 330 inspection cum slitter-rewinder units. Zircon Technology with offices located in Delhi, Noida, Dehradun, Ludhiana, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Mumbai has installed several Rotoflex machines which include one VSI 330 and a VLI 440 unit at Dehradun.
Having tasted success with the Mark Andy 2200 press and the XP5000 press that has augmented their capacity substantially, Kwality Off set Printers at Naraina expanded its flexo capacity with a P5 Performance series Mark Andy label press. The state-of-the-art 8-color servo press installed at Kwality Offset comes with an auto-register, re-register, and an UV system. The Delhi-based commercial printer has also installed a Rotoflex VSI 330 slitter, inspection and rewinding unit with an E-GEN3 controller system to boost capacity and improve efficiencies for its in-house print shop.
