Interview of Angelina Pischikova

For Angelina Pischikova, the 23-year old designer from Belarus, 2017 has been a year to remember. After receiving global award winning success, with her Platinum Pentaward and widespread recognition from the packaging design industry, for her incredible design of the CS Light Bulbs packaging, we had the chance to catch up with the Pentawards winner, where she reflected on her journey so far and what the future might have in store.

What has happened to you since winning a Platinum Pentaward?

Angelina Pischikova – It was a truly incredible feeling to win a Platinum Pentaward, I am so happy. Since winning, I have become more confident and I have realised that I am on the right track. The competition has given me the opportunity to meet many wonderful people in the packaging design industry.

Where do you find your design inspiration?

I find inspiration in everything I do and through all the people I meet. The opportunity to work on new projects motivates me and my curiosity and passion for design keeps me going.

What are the biggest challenges you encounter as a designer and how do you overcome them?

When I graduated from university I found it difficult to be taken seriously as a young designer by industry professionals, especially without much experience. It’s very difficult to find a team that will believe in you. When you are young and full of hope, it’s so important to find this support. I am so grateful to all those who have helped me get to where I am today.

I really hope that my story can inspire not only young artists to create and believe in themselves, but can also inspire the older generation to believe more in these young artists.

What advice would you give to other aspiring designers?

Be more confident and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Explore unfamiliar territory and step outside of your comfort zone. It’s the best way get to grow.

Where would you like to be in 5 years?

I’d like to continue to focus on developing work that I can be proud of and enjoy working on. I also look forward to working with a lovely team and bringing great ideas to life.

The impact, resilience, and growth of responsible packaging in a wide region are daily chronicled by Packaging South Asia.

A multi-channel B2B publication and digital platform such as Packaging South Asia is always aware of the prospect of new beginnings and renewal. Its 16-year-old print monthly, based in New Delhi, India has demonstrated its commitment to progress and growth. The Indian and Asian packaging industries have shown resilience in the face of ongoing challenges over the past three years.

As we present our publishing plan for 2023, India’s real GDP growth for the financial year ending 31 March 2023 will reach 6.3%. Packaging industry growth has exceeded GDP growth even when allowing for inflation in the past three years.

The capacity for flexible film manufacturing in India increased by 33% over the past three years. With orders in place, we expect another 33% capacity addition from 2023 to 2025. Capacities in monocartons, corrugation, aseptic liquid packaging, and labels have grown similarly. The numbers are positive for most of the economies in the region – our platform increasingly reaches and influences these.

Even given the disruptions of supply chains, raw material prices, and the challenge of responsible and sustainable packaging, packaging in all its creative forms and purposes has significant headroom to grow in India and Asia. Our context and coverage engulf the entire packaging supply chain – from concept to shelf and further – to waste collection and recycling. We target brand owners, product managers, raw material suppliers, packaging designers and converters, and recyclers.

In an admittedly fragmented and textured terrain, this is the right time to plan your participation and marketing support communication – in our impactful and highly targeted business platform.
