Optima
An Optima expert with MLS

Under the theme ‘Meet the Optimists,’ Optima will present itself at Interpack 2026 from 7 to 13 May in Duesseldorf, Germany, as a technology and turnkey partner for the pharmaceutical and consumer goods industries. The company’s exhibition focuses on solutions that make sustainability, precision, flexibility, and digital intelligence industrially viable.

Efficient and sustainable packaging

A key focus of Optima’s presence at the show is fiber-based packaging solutions. With technologies such as Dry Molded Fiber and Paper Forming, Optima demonstrates how recyclable packaging can already be produced today in a functional, economical, and high volume industrial process—combining high precision with extensive design freedom. Exhibits include a high performance Dry Molded Fiber press, industrial machine concepts, and fiber based product samples for food and home care applications.

In the cosmetics and personal care segment, Optima highlights platform solutions designed to grow alongside customer requirements. The company will showcase modular machine concepts that enable rapid format changeovers, a wide range of variants, and long term investment security. With exhibits such as the MLS with robot picker and the newly developed SLS, Optima demonstrates how flexibility, a compact footprint, and cost efficient filling can be combined at speeds of up to 240 products per minute (SLS).

Pharmaceutical expertise and AI

Another major focus is on solutions for the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. Optima presents fully integrated turnkey systems—from filling and closing through containment to freeze drying—all from a single source.

Using the Optima =H6-10 as an example, a high performance syringe filling machine with an integrated isolator, the company demonstrates how complex pharmaceutical filling lines with containment can be implemented as seamless turnkey solutions. Standardized engineering, automation, and IT concepts ensure clearly defined interfaces, high planning reliability, and efficient execution of demanding projects.

The exhibition also places strong emphasis on the latest technologies and solutions supporting compliance with EU GMP Annex 1 requirements. A fully integrated, automated Environmental Monitoring System (EMS) reduces manual glove interventions, minimizes contamination risks, and maximizes machine availability. Linear stopper feeding with an integrated stopper intervention system illustrates how regulatory requirements can be implemented efficiently and future proof through targeted automation and intelligent design.

Freeze drying will be highlighted with LYO-SCALE, a solution that demonstrates how parameters and processes can be developed at small scale and systematically scaled up for later production systems.

A central theme of Optima’s trade show presence is the use of artificial intelligence in service and plant operation. Digitalization becomes tangible: visitors can experience how AI Assist and data analytics are directly integrated into the machine and accessible via an OLED display. This is complemented by the digital twin, which virtually maps machine and process data, enabling transparency and comparability.

Optima is a technology leader in the precise dosing, filling, packaging and handling of demanding liquid and solid products. With flexible and customer-specific systems, Optima has been ensuring for more than 100 years serving valuable and sensitive goods such as medicines, hygiene and medical devices, food or cosmetics.
