Michelman, a global developer and manufacturer of environmentally friendly advanced materials for the industry, offering solutions for the coatings, printing and packaging and industrial manufacturing markets, is participating in Pamex for the first time. Pamex 2020 is scheduled at Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai from 6 to 9 January.

At the show, the company is displaying its range of PE replacement coatings, which offer oil and grease resistance, water repellence and heat-sealing properties. Michelman will also talk about its barrier coatings that give oxygen and moisture barrier to a substrate.

“Our coatings are FDA approved for direct food contact, which make it ideal for the food industry,” a company spokesperson said.

At Pamex 2020, Michelman aims to meet packaging customers, brand owners, food service industries, converters, etc. from the offset and paper market.

Commenting on the reasons for participating in Pamex for the first time, the spokesperson said that the expo is one of the biggest events in the paper and printing industry.

“It is the first time we are exhibiting at Pamex, and we look forward to connect with our potential customers and give them an overview of all the products that we offer and the work we do at Michelman Innovation Centre for Coatings (MICC). We help brand owners and converters to develop recyclable packaging solutions with our coatings,” the spokesperson said.

The MICC was inaugurated in January 2018, with the aim to serve the needs of the Indian market to allow for fast and efficient development of sustainable packaging solutions. It has a range of testing equipment like Mocons for OTR/MTVR testing, Gelbo tester, allows for hot tack testing, etc., Gelbo testing and has an ultrasonic stirrer. Although equipped with 4 Mocons for OTR/MTVR testing, the centerpiece is a dual-station pilot coater laminator that allows brand owners, converters, film manufacturers and packaging manufacturers to test new concepts without stopping their production lines.

At Pamex 2020, Michelman is at Stand H64.

The Covid-19 pandemic led to the country-wide lockdown on 25 March 2020. It will be two years tomorrow as I write this. What have we learned in this time? Maybe the meaning of resilience since small companies like us have had to rely on our resources and the forbearance of our employees as we have struggled to produce our trade platforms.

The print and packaging industries have been fortunate, although the commercial printing industry is still to recover. We have learned more about the digital transformation that affects commercial printing and packaging. Ultimately digital will help print grow in a country where we are still far behind in our paper and print consumption and where digital is a leapfrog technology that will only increase the demand for print in the foreseeable future.

Web analytics show that we now have readership in North America and Europe amongst the 90 countries where our five platforms reach. Our traffic which more than doubled in 2020, has at times gone up by another 50% in 2021. And advertising which had fallen to pieces in 2020 and 2021, has started its return since January 2022.

As the economy approaches real growth with unevenness and shortages a given, we are looking forward to the PrintPack India exhibition in Greater Noida. We are again appointed to produce the Show Daily on all five days of the show from 26 to 30 May 2022.
