Polyplastics, a premier Japanese manufacturer specializing in high-performance engineering plastics, showcased its wide portfolio of high-performance materials at PlastIndia 2026 in Delhi. The showcase included polyoxymethylene (POM), polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), polyphenylene sulphide (PPS), liquid crystalline polymers (LCP), and cyclic olefin copolymers (COC), among other specialized engineering plastics.
Speaking at the company’s stand, Nabarun Roy, technical expert at Polyplastics, said the company’s strategy is to align closely with India’s innovation-driven demand. He said India has emerged as a key growth market for advanced materials.
“The whole world is looking at India in terms of innovation and manufacturing capabilities,” he said, adding that Polyplastics is well-positioned to support emerging requirements across sectors such as automotive, medical, electricals, and consumer appliances. The company’s primary manufacturing and R&D base in located in Japan’s Shizuoka Prefecture.
A major highlight of Polyplastics’ presence was its focus on localization. The company is actively promoting locally manufactured and compounded grades to better serve Indian customers. “The requirement of this market is localization,” Roy noted. “Customers are developing products locally, and they expect material suppliers to support them with local availability and faster turnaround.”
To address this, Polyplastics is exploring multiple strategies, including expanding its compounding capabilities and evaluating partnerships within India. Roy indicated that the company is assessing opportunities to collaborate with local compounding units, alongside leveraging its existing facilities in Japan, Malaysia, and Taiwan to support regional demand.
In addition to localization, the company showcased its application-driven approach, particularly in high-growth sectors such as electric vehicles and medical devices. By offering a comprehensive materials portfolio, Polyplastics aims to enable product innovation while meeting performance and regulatory requirements.
Reflecting on the exhibition, Roy described the Indian market as exciting and full of opportunities. He said the company is keen to engage with new customers and explore diverse applications across industries. “We are ready to meet the challenges that this market presents and support customers in their new developments,” he said.
