Romaco
KTS 840 triple-layer tablet press

At Interpack 2026, Romaco Kilian will present the KTS 840 – its new tablet press for triple-layer applications. This robust rotary tablet press was specially designed for use in the nutraceutical and food industries. In addition, Romaco will join with Theegarten-PACTEC to exhibit a high speed line for compressing and packaging bouillon cubes. With the KTP 1X compaction simulator, Romaco will showcase its expertise in research and development.

KTS 840 tablet press

The versatile and robust KTS 840 tablet press by Romaco Kilian was engineered specifically for compressing triple-layer tablets for the nutraceutical and food industries. It is, however, suitable for all kinds of dosage forms and sizes. Equipped with up to 91 press stations and featuring a pitch circle of 840 mm, this flexible all-rounder achieves a maximum output of 300,000 tablets per hour.

This machine operates with impressively low vibrations, even at pre- and main compression forces of up to 100 kN. The cGMP compliant hygienic design, which hermetically separates the compaction area from the machine compartment, enables the KTS 840 to satisfy all the quality requirements of the production process.

For the production of triple-layer tablets, the rotary tablet press has three specially designed fill shoe systems, which can also feed sticky, abrasive, corrosive and poorly flowing powders reliably and with absolute control. Its segmented rotor not only increases the machine’s productivity but also speeds up format changes. Last but not least, the powerful, maintenance-free and, above all, highly efficient torque drive ensures a long service life for the KTS 840 triple-layer tablet press.

KTP 1X compaction simulator

The KTP 1X is Romaco Kilian’s smart compacting simulator for tablet development using digital tools. This all-in-one instrument was designed for research and development activities but also allows targeted troubleshooting and process optimization in addition to upscaling. The single-stroke press is capable of simulating any standard rotary press, making it much easier to conduct technology transfer and scale-up trials, among other things.

The measurement system is perfect for designing and analyzing mono-layer, bi-layer and triple-layer tablets as well as tab-in-tab formats. The KTP 1X determines the ideal compression force/hardness profile for any tablet design, taking account of the various ingredients and parameters. Its compression studies are highly automated, and so only a few test series are needed to obtain meaningful results when characterizing a formulation.

A special data module gives users worldwide access to raw measurement data at any time, even when the press is not in operation. Decentralized data analysis and processing have numerous advantages, enabling research projects to be implemented more efficiently. Thanks to its very small compaction area, this space-saving instrument fits conveniently into any laboratory as well as being quick and easy to clean. The use of just one pair of punches is both economical and sustainable, and ensures very low product consumption. Depending on the model, the KTP 1X achieves compression forces of up to 80 kN and a maximum output of 1,800 tablets per hour.

On show at Interpack

High speed line for tableting and packaging bouillon cubes: Romaco Kilian and Theegarten-PACTEC will join forces to present a high speed line for the tableting and packaging of wrapped bouillon cubes. This technology, which comprises the KTS 1000 tablet press and the BHS continuous wrapping machine, is currently the most powerful on the market.

KTS 1000 high speed tablet press: The KTS 1000 high speed press showcases Romaco Kilian’s specialist expertise in large tablets. This powerful tablet press boasts a maximum output of 6,000 cubes a minute. It is suitable for both food and non-food applications in continuous 24/7 operation. Different filling systems allow for maximum dosing accuracy when filling the dies. Dedicated tools enable the safe processing of even highly viscous or abrasive powders that are difficult to compress. Elastic bellows protect the tablets from contamination with lubricants during compression, improving product quality and ensuring a more reliable process.

The strict separation between the compaction and service areas prevents tablet dust from entering the machine compartment during production. Benefits to users include minimal time and expense for cleaning and maintenance. Moreover, the extremely robust KTS 1000 can be installed in non-air-conditioned production environments without problem. This tablet press is altogether impressive with its high OEE (overall equipment effectiveness), and easy integration into a packaging line can take place whenever the customer wishes.

Visitors to the trade fair will be able to experience Romaco and Theegarten-PACTEC’s high speed line for producing and packaging bouillon cubes live in action at the Theegarten-PACTEC booth at Hall 1, Stand B51.
