At ProPak India 2025 in Mumbai this August, Sacmi Engineering presented its portfolio for the chocolate business and rigid packaging division. Though unable to demonstrate its massive machinery at the venue, the company effectively highlighted its products and technological strengths through presentations, photographs, and discussions.

Founded in Italy, the company initially specialized in the ceramic industry and has since expanded into multiple divisions. Today, Sacmi operates across four major business segments—ceramics, logistics, secondary packaging for chocolates and confectionery, and rigid packaging technology.

One of Sacmi’s major highlights was its rigid packaging technology division, which serves the global beverage industry extensively. This division produces machines that manufacture raw materials for bottles and caps, serving the soft drinks, water, and juice industries.

Sachin Joshi, sales manager for closures, India at Sacmi, explained that leading multinational brands such as Coca-Cola and PepsiCo rely heavily on caps made with Sacmi machines. Their high-volume filling lines demand extremely fast and efficient closure production, and Sacmi’s solutions fit seamlessly into this requirement.

For instance, Sacmi’s 48-cavity machine can produce nearly 2,000 caps per minute. Joshi pointed out that conventional moulding technologies cannot meet such massive output requirements, which is why Sacmi’s machines remain the preferred choice for beverage giants worldwide.

Additionally, the company complements its high-speed production systems with advanced inspection technologies, digital cameras, and laboratory equipment, all designed and manufactured at its Italian facilities.

Beyond beverages, Sacmi has established a strong presence in the confectionery and chocolate industry, offering secondary packaging machinery. According to Joshi, the systems are designed to meet the modern-day needs of speed, precision, and adaptability, ensuring efficient packaging solutions for both global and domestic markets. Sacmi showcased the end products and packaging outputs created by its solutions.

Joshi noted that ProPak India has grown steadily since its inception. “We have been participating since the very first edition. Now, the exhibition is much bigger, and the focus is clear. Organizers are inviting both large-scale and smaller machinery manufacturers, which will make it a stronger platform in the coming years,” he said.

Looking ahead, Sacmi is focused on developing new and modern models across all divisions. The emphasis is on improved production efficiency, higher output, and alignment with evolving sustainability needs.

One of the key market requirements today is lighter-weight preforms and caps that still maintain the same level of performance and durability,” Joshi explained. “In tropical conditions such as India, losing carbonation is unacceptable, so our machines are designed to ensure the integrity of the beverage while reducing material usage.”
