WITT acquires Contura technology from Inficon

With effect from 1 July 2026, WITT Gasetechnik is acquiring the Contura product range for non-destructive packaging leak testing from Inficon. The acquisition includes the associated patents and is based on a mutually agreed arrangement that ensures a seamless transition for existing customers as well as the consistent technological development of the systems.

As part of a strategic realignment, Inficon is withdrawing from the packaging inspection market and has deliberately chosen WITT as its successor in order to place the future of Contura technology in experienced hands. With the integration of Contura technology, WITT is specifically expanding its range of leak testing solutions.

The owner-managed family business, based in Witten, has specialized in solutions for the food and packaging industries for decades and is one of the world’s leading suppliers of systems for modified atmosphere packaging (MAP), gas analysis and leak testing. Following the acquisition, WITT will assume full responsibility for the development, marketing, servicing and further development of the existing Contura systems.

“For many years, the Contura product range has been synonymous with precise and reliable leak testing. It was important to us to hand this technology over to a partner who can offer customers long-term continuity and continue to develop the product with technical expertise,” says Jorge Oevermann, product manager for Leak Detection Tools at Inficon.

For existing Inficon customers, this move means, above all, long-term planning certainty. The product availability, the supply of spare parts and the service they have come to expect will continue and will be guaranteed without interruption in future through WITT’s global service and partner network.

For WITT, the integration of Contura technology under the name Leak Master Contura into the globally established Leak Master family represents a valuable addition to its existing portfolio. The technology utilizes a patented pressure differential method for detecting leaks, which requires no test gases such as CO2. It enables both micro-leaks in the range of 10 µm and macro-leaks to be detected quickly, reproducibly and non-destructively on a wide variety of packaging types, such as capsules or pouches.

“With Leak Master Contura, we are expanding our range to include a technically advanced and well-established method that perfectly complements our existing leak testing solutions,” explains Martin Bender, managing director at WITT. “This benefits both existing Contura customers and our current customers, to whom we will be able to offer an even broader range of high-performance testing technologies for consistent quality assurance in future.”
