Ahmedabad-based Akshar Digital has witnessed fast growth ever since the purchase of its first Kodak Flexcel NX system to make high-quality flexographic plates. The company is currently on an expansion phase and looks to invest close to Rs. 5 crore in acquiring new technologies.
“The western region of India is seeing very fast growth in the number of flexo presses being installed. As the footprint of flexo technology expands, the demand for flexo plates too is growing. To cater to this demand, we need to increase our plate-making capacity,” said Nikunj Malvania of Akshar NX Digital during the Labelexpo India 2018 show. Malvania also shared his plans to invest in a Kodak Flexcel NX wide system with a maximum plate size of 42 x 60 inches. According to him, the larger size facilitates efficient job planning and enables print production efficiencies. His other investment plans include opting for another flexo digital imagersystem from either Esko or Xeikon in early 2019. Apart from this, the company will also invest in a processor, dryer, light finisher and DuPont plates.
