Recommended Procedures before restarting a Gallus press. Checklist before restarting equipment:

Remove dust from equipment

Wipe and remove rust-preventive oil from web-moving cylinders and path rollers

Remove any trace of rust-preventive oil from Anilox and plate shaft

Clean Plate cylinder, Anilox, Die-cylinder, and other tools with recommended chemicals (UV wash and IPA)

Check air regulator to ensure 6 bar pressure. Make sure that air regulator is dry and free from traces of water or any solvent

Clean water filter (if available) in the cooling circuit

Ensure that the main power cable (from Electrical panel to Machine cabinet) is damage-free

Check machine cabinets for rodent bite or any kind damage

If the equipment passes scrutiny, switch ON the power supply and check the input voltage level

Now, switch ON the equipment and check for smooth booting of the machine and other accessory equipment

To-do list after powering ON equipment

Ensure proper functioning of unwinding/rewind units, including up/down movements, air-bladder opening/closing, etc

Check if Web aligner/Guide is working on all modes – Centre/Manual/Auto

Check and ensure proper working of Infeed/Outfeed nip rollers

Check and ensure proper working of Anilox Motor

Check for smooth up/down the functioning of Plate cylinder

Check and ensure the proper functioning of emergency switches/RIP guard and safety doors

Check Rail accessory functioning, including the working of Cold foil and matrix winder

If there is no malfunction, proceed with Inching and observe to detect an abnormality, if any

Try to run the machine without material (Please put the web tension in infeed and outfeed to advancement mode at set it to Zero%. This will allow you to run the machine without material)

Thread the web into the machine an run the machine again and check all the functions. (After web insertion please use tension measuring mode in infeed and outfeed, as usual, to run the machine with calculated tension)

Power ON the UV and check its function. Check the blowers and ducting for any bird nesting

If any issue in the above checking procedure, please contact us before proceeding for next

Not-To-Do List:

Do not switch ON Power, without checking power cables and cabinets for damage

Do not switch ON power without checking input voltage

If any abnormality found during checkup procedure, please contact Heidelberg support before proceeding further
