For SP Ultraflex, Plastindia 2015 was a success and to capitalize on the event, the company has decided to have an Open House at its plant in Mumbai in the second week of May. This event is for the benefit of people who could not visit Plastindia and also those who would like to see the Roboslit in greater detail. SP is also inviting a few customers where talks are at an advanced stage to send jobs for trials and would be running the machine in a simulated factory environment.

“The Open House would provide an opportunity to our customers to see the real-world application of dual turret technology in enhancing slitting productivity. It will also provide SP with a platform to substantiate its claims about the magnitude of increase in productivity based on empirical data and calculations,” says Biku Kohli, director, SP Ultraflex.

At Plastindia, the biggest attraction for visitors was the dual turret slitter-rewinder Roboslit RL, which ran several times each day at 600 metres a minute, pausing for a mere 30 seconds between consecutive rewind sets. The machine was also equipped with an indigenous trim rewinder unit, fully integrated and synchronized with the machine speed.

According to Kohli, the concept of rewinding trim as opposed to collecting it in a cage is fast gaining popularity among converters. Apart from compacting the trim into small bundles, this technology supports a cleaner and less noisy environment, more orderly disposal and brings power savings to the converter.

SP is the only OEM that manufactures its own trim rewinders, fully capable of supporting its range of high speed slitter-rewinders. Upon seeing the Roboslit in action, an esteemed customer converted his pending order for a duplex slitter-rewinder into that of a dual turret
slitter-rewinder to keep pace with the latest technology according to Kohli. Other notable orders booked during the course of the exhibition included the Primaslit RL by Plastene India., Gandhinagar and Primaslit FL by MBR Flexibles, Ahmedabad. The demonstrated machine itself was dispatched to Vishakha Polyfab, Ahmedabad.

In addition to the Roboslit dual turret slitter-rewinder, SP will showcase some other machines. These would include — duplex slitterrewinder Primaslit FL with integral, front loading unwind and speeds upto 500 metres a minute; duplex slitter-rewinder Primaslit RL with integral, rear loading unwind and speeds upto 600 metres a minute; duplex slitter-rewinder Ultraslit OHP with a separate unwind, an overhead path and speeds upto 700 metres a minute; web inspection rewinder, WIR REV, with speeds upto 500 metres a minute and doctoring rewinding machine, DRM REV, with speeds upto 500 metres a minute.

“Apart from providing the Roboslit experience the event will also update SP’s existing and new customers with the company’s complete product portfolio and familiarize them with features exclusive to SP machines,” states Kohli.
