When Packaging South Asia visited Nichrome India’s Shirwal plant about 55 km from Pune at the end of March, it was bustling with activity. There were customers visiting, machine trials taking place on the shop floor and finished machines waiting to be dispatched. Nichrome, India’s leading form fill and seal (FFS) solutions provider, has had a very good last one year as the company launched some successful new and upgraded products and at the same time made significant breakthroughs in some new markets overseas.

At this year’s PrintPack event, Ahmedabad-based Excel Machinery launched its latest automatic diecutter machine, Maxima HS 1020. We at Indian Printer and Publisher met Jitendra Patel, managing director of Excel Machinery, to talk about the new machine and get a comprehensive overview of the company and its business.

Faridabad-based APL Machinery is a leading manufacturer of screen print machines to print on various shapes and substrates including paper as well as round containers. At Plastivision, APL launched Omega Roto UV 1000—a unique UV coating and curing machine that can generate speeds of more than 150 m/minute with a single UV cassette rather than two cassettes. The machine is also equipped with E+L web tension controller and has been built to meet the diverse needs of high gloss and scratch-free coating on various flexible substrates.

Being the first company to produce plastic processing machinery, Windsor Machines showcased its range of injection blow moulding and extrusion machineries integrated with Industry 4.0. Speaking to Packaging South Asia, TS Rajan, chief executive officer, Windsor Machines says, “We have been participating in Plastivision since the first exhibition. Plastivision is the second biggest exhibition happening in India. The Mumbai industry is a place of decision makers and geographically a favorable space for people from various industrial segments in the country.

At this year’s Labelexpo, Xeikon plans to showcase its Xeikon 3030 Plus digital label press, which is based on the proven platform of their 3000 series of Xeikon Engines. The 3030 Plus offers full optimization with actual label size with its variable width of 8 inch to 13 inch and unlimited label length due to the unique full rotary technology. This allows the converter to fully optimize print runs with actual size of labels. The press runs at 15 m/min irrespective of label lengths and number of colors applied. The company labels it as a true full-rotary press.

Henkel Adhesive Technologies India (Henkel India), the leading solution provider for adhesives, sealants and surface treatment and a fully owned subsidiary of Henkel, has been awarded with the ‘Green Label’ certificate for the water-based portfolio of its footwear adhesives business by Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI). ‘Green Label’ is a quality certification label that is issued to validate safe, healthy and environment-friendly footwear, leather products, components used to manufacture them and allied products. FDDI conducted an inspection of each material used in manufacturing Henkel India’s footwear adhesives and analyzed if the adhesive is manufactured according to the environment-friendly standard.
