Online Course on Intelligent Packaging: The intersection with data and digitalisation

The World Packaging Organisation (WPO) will hold an online course titled “Intelligent Packaging: The Intersection with Data & Digitalisation” on 23 September 2026, in partnership with the Australasian Institute of Packaging (AIP).

The session will examine how packaging is increasingly bridging physical products with digital systems, enabling access to real-time, trusted information across the product lifecycle. Topics will include 2D barcodes, QR codes, GS1 Digital Link, RFID and NFC technologies, and their role in Digital Product Passports, traceability, authenticity verification, supply chain visibility, recycling and consumer engagement.

Participants will gain practical knowledge of connected packaging technologies, insights into improving supply chain operations and recalls, and guidance on aligning packaging data with global standards for smarter, more transparent supply chains. The course targets professionals in packaging and product development, marketing, operations, sustainability, quality, compliance and retail, and is designed for both newcomers and organisations already using digital packaging solutions.

The course will be led by Michael Dossor MAIP, AIP president and CEO of Result Group, who brings 40 years of experience in packaging, print, machinery and intelligent technologies.

Registration costs 50 Euros, with a certificate of participation provided upon completion. Participants based in Australia and New Zealand should register directly through AIP, as the course is offered locally in those regions.

Interested professionals can register via WPO’s website or contact info@worldpackaging.org for further details.
