ClikPrint, a Roorkee-based label printer providing solutions to pharma, food, and beverage industries, has installed a Jetsci Kolorsmart+ digital label production press from Monotech Systems to enhance the security features of its products. The provider started its business more than a year ago and is evolving rapidly. During a recent visit to the printer in Roorkee’s industrial area, Packaging South Asia had a whiff of the growth of new entrants in label printing and digital adopters.
In our conversation with Rahul Gupta, chartered accountant at ClikPrint, we found out that in tier 3 cities, security features are more in demand in comparison to finished goods. While premium look and feel is always appreciated, anti-counterfeiting solutions are necessary to check duplicates.
According to Gupta, tier 3 cities such as Roorkee are struggling with counterfeits. “Pharma, food, and beverage industries need security solutions on priority. While there are many mandates in tier 1 and 2 cities that are strictly followed, tier 3 cities are not particularly stringent. These are markets that are focused on survival rather than competing. Leading retailers and shop owners stock up on the alternative products that they find at a relatively cheaper price.”
