M&C Spa, the owner of Treofan Holdings GmbH has announced on 7th of August 2018 that it has sold its controlling stake in Treofan Europe to Jindal Films. The transaction is expected to be closed before the end of the first quarter of 2019 subject to receipt of all
statutory approvals.

Treofan was set up in in 2003 with the merger of Moplefan and Hoechst’s BOPP operation. As reported by us , M&C sold Treofan’s American business (in Mexico and the USA) to CCL
earlier this year. They have also been looking to sell their European BOPP business as well.

The Treofan Europe BOPP business comprises 11 extrusion lines, 1 pilot line for R&D and 1 coater (800 employees, 3 production sites in Germany and Italy, nameplate capacity 125,000 metric tonnes per annum).

Jindal Films is an affiliate of India’s Jindal Poly Films (251,000 MTPA of BOPP, 127,000 MTPA of BOPET and 15,000 MTPA of CPP). Jindal Films runs the BOPP operations in Europe and the USA of the erstwhile ExxonMobil Films that were taken over by JPFL in 2013.
