Chennai-based Pioneer Arunachalam Packaging, a well-known name in southern India’s premium label printing & manufacturing market, keeps expanding its machine portfolio with the adoptions of advanced and modern machines and equipment. The company latest addition is a trio of customized Rhyguan SMART-450 systems with Luster LabelMaster 450 inspection units and an integrated combo of DYM SACD-450P automatic turret rewinder, DYM HAU-450 automatic butt splicing unwinder and DYM NAC-450 automatic waste matrix removal system, all supplied and installed by Flexo Image Graphics (FIG).

Based in Delhi with branches in Chennai and Mumbai, FIG is a distributor & service provider of flexographic presses and associated equipment from a string of world’s leading brands in India. Along with Rhyguan, Luster, and DYM, other brands which FIG also solely represents in the subcontinent include Mark Andy, XSYS, Rotoflex, Kluge, KDS Quantum, Presstek, etc.

“It has been our pride to be partnered with Pioneer Arunachalam as a valued and longstanding client. They have marked a big upgrade of their machine portfolio with the recent investments in the new Rhyguan systems + Luster units and the combo of DYM SAC, HAU and NAC systems,” said Gourav Roy, managing director, Flexo Image Graphics.

Arun Tenzing, director, Pioneer Arunachalam Packaging, said, “We started our partnership with FIG in 2009 with the purchase of a Mark Andy label press. Around three years ago we bought our first Rhyguan PLUS 420 slitter rewinder from them. The recent purchase of multiple machines, comprising the customized Rhyguan SMART-450s with LusterLabel Master 450 inspection systems and the DYM SACD-450P automatic turret rewinder combined with HAU automatic butt-splicing unwinder and NAC automatic waste matrix removal system is primarily for strengthening the constant increase in our production capacity, particularly in the self-adhesive domain.”

Tenzing added, “This current increase in our production capacity of self-adhesive labels drove us to adopt the new machines for higher slitting capacity, better inspection and workflows to support digital systems. Being comfortable with the Rhyguan/Luster combination and with an aim to standardize equipment workflows, my company added the Rhyguan SMART-450 high-speed slitting and rewinding machines equipped with the new generation Luster LabelMaster 450 inspection system.”

He said they chose the DYM combo to save on machine downtime, simplify workflows aiming to save costs in the competitive business environment. “Our initial impression of the machine’s performance is positive. Our test processes are intense, and the machine is expected to achieve its productivity targets and prove its ruggedness over the next one year. In the meantime, support from DYM’s team from China will be evaluated. Once proven, DYM will be a potential partner of choice like Rhyguan and Luster for our future projects. If chosen carefully, Chinese machines have proven a compelling alternative to European machinery in features.”

According to Tenzing, FIG has proven its competency in handling mechanical and technical issues with the Mark Andy Series of machines over 18 years. “After all, their expertise and ability to smooth out communication issues with the teams from their Chinese principals is an added advantage and a key success factor, apart from all good hardware or technologies they supply.” FIG has its branch office in Chennai which tactically networks with Mumbai branch and Delhi head office to form a centralized ‘Customer Support Department’.

Founded in 1994, Pioneer Arunachalam Packaging manufactures PVC shrink bottle labels, self adhesive plain paper labels, etc., serving a vast client base across diverse sectors including liquor, FMCG, pharmaceutical, etc. The company’s clients are from all major southern Indian cities and towns of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Kerala.
