Designed for connected manufacturing environments, the Cx150i UV is Industry 4.0-ready and integrates seamlessly with MES and ERP systems through Domino Automation.

Domino India has announced the launch of the Cx150i UV, a high-resolution piezo inkjet printer designed to help manufacturers achieve durable, high-quality direct-to-box coding on semi-porous and non-porous packaging materials.

As packaging manufacturers increasingly adopt laminated cartons, coated monocartons and premium packaging formats across pharmaceutical, food, beverage and FMCG industries, the need for coding technologies capable of delivering reliable print adhesion across semi-porous and non-porous packaging surfaces without compromising production efficiency has become increasingly important. Conventional oil-based inks often struggle to adhere effectively to non-porous surfaces, resulting in compromised code durability and readability.

Developed to address these evolving packaging requirements, the Cx150i UV combines Domino’s proven piezo inkjet technology with LED UV-curing technology to produce high-resolution, high-contrast codes directly onto semi-porous and non-porous packaging materials.

The solution enables manufacturers to print text, logos, graphics, QR codes, GS1-compliant 1D and 2D barcodes, batch information and serialized data with excellent adhesion and long-term durability.

The system is particularly suited for applications involving laminated cartons, monocartons, blister foil and other coated secondary packaging materials commonly used across pharmaceutical manufacturing, premium FMCG products, cosmetics, personal care and export packaging, where consistent code quality is essential for traceability, compliance and brand presentation.

Unlike conventional coding solutions, the Cx150i UV uses low-VOC UV-curable inks that are instantly cured using energy-efficient LED lamps, eliminating drying delays while delivering sharp, durable codes even on challenging non-porous substrates. The printer supports print resolutions of up to 600 dpi, enabling manufacturers to reproduce fine text, complex graphics and high-density QR codes with exceptional clarity.

The solution has also been engineered to simplify production operations. Its intuitive QuickStep touchscreen interface, modular architecture and 500 ml ink supply enable extended production runs with replenishment during operation, reducing downtime and operator intervention while maintaining consistent coding quality.

Designed for connected manufacturing environments, the Cx150i UV is Industry 4.0-ready and integrates seamlessly with MES and ERP systems through Domino Automation. Manufacturers can leverage cloud-connected services for production monitoring, diagnostics, analytics and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) reporting, while integration with Domino’s R-Series vision inspection systems enables automated verification of code presence, placement and readability.

Sachin Mall, assistant vice president – products, applications & solutions, Domino Printech India, said, “The increasing use of laminated and coated packaging materials has created new challenges for manufacturers seeking consistent, durable, high-quality coding solutions. The Cx150i UV has been specifically engineered to deliver excellent adhesion and high-resolution print quality across semi-porous and non-porous substrates by combining Domino’s proven piezo inkjet technology with LED UV-curing.

“It delivers high-resolution coding at production speeds of up to 250 m/min, enabling high-volume manufacturing without compromising print quality. Designed for high equipment availability with minimal operator intervention, its quick-change ink cartridge system enables cartridge replacement without interrupting production, helping minimise downtime and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).”

Tanuj Agrawal, managing director, Domino Printech India, said, “Packaging formats continue to evolve as manufacturers adopt premium materials, strengthen product traceability and respond to changing regulatory and consumer expectations. At Domino India, we remain committed to delivering technologies that help our customers confidently adapt to these changes while improving operational efficiency, compliance and long-term business performance. The launch of the Cx150i UV reflects our continued focus on providing future-ready coding solutions for modern packaging environments.”

The Cx150i UV also supports manufacturers’ sustainability initiatives through its low-waste ink pouch system, energy-efficient LED curing technology and direct-to-box printing capabilities, helping reduce dependence on adhesive labels while improving overall production efficiency.

As manufacturers continue investing in smarter, digitally connected packaging operations, the Cx150i UV provides a scalable coding solution capable of delivering reliable performance across a wide range of semi-porous and non-porous packaging applications.
