Kraiburg TPE has introduced enhanced material solutions designed to improve the functionality and reliability of modern food storage. As consumer demand for convenience and performance grows, the company is leveraging its advanced thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) to provide secure closures and increased durability for a variety of kitchenware applications.
These custom-engineered materials are specifically developed to integrate seamlessly into complex designs, allowing manufacturers to enhance the usability of containers while maintaining high safety standards.
A primary focus of this development is the Thermolast K series, which features specialized compounds designed for safe contact with fatty foods. These materials are characterized by a minimized migration potential, ensuring that they meet the strict requirements of direct food contact without compromising the integrity of the contents. Beyond safety, the series offers high processability for multi-component injection molding, enabling the production of containers that combine a pleasant tactile feel with the rugged durability necessary for daily use.
Functionality is further augmented by the series’ mechanical properties and user-centric design features. The materials provide strong adhesion to polypropylene (PP) and a non-sticky surface that ensures lids and seals remain easy to handle while maintaining airtight freshness. To support brand identity, these TPE solutions are fully color-customizable, allowing manufacturers to incorporate functional elements like grips and seals that match specific product aesthetics.
Sustainability remains a core pillar of Kraiburg TPE’s innovation strategy, with a portfolio that includes bio-based TPEs and compounds featuring recycled content from both post-consumer and post-industrial sources. The company’s commitment to environmental responsibility is reflected in its 2025 EcoVadis Gold Medal and its alignment with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTI).
Furthermore, the Thermolast K series is halogen-free and compliant with major international standards, including EU and US FDA regulations, while supporting in-process recycling to help brands achieve their circularity goals.
Looking ahead, Kraiburg TPE will showcase its broad portfolio of material innovations at Chinaplas 2026 in Shanghai. Attendees visiting hall 7.2, stand D13 will have the opportunity to engage in one-to-one consultations with technical experts for personalized application support. The company continues to leverage its production sites in Germany, the USA, and Malaysia to deliver reliable, sustainable solutions across the automotive, industrial, consumer, and medical sectors.
