Fosber is targeting India’s high-volume corrugated packaging market with an expanded machinery portfolio, including higher-speed corrugators and a new machine combining lamination and corrugation capabilities.
The company sees opportunities in India as packaging manufacturers invest in modern production facilities, improve board quality and respond to growing demand for sustainable packaging.
Speaking to Packaging South Asia at IndiaCorr Expo 2026 in Mumbai, Deepak Singh and Ewyn Liu of Fosber said India had become an important market for the group, which specializes in machinery for high-volume corrugated board production and value-added packaging applications.
Fosber has participated in the Indian exhibition since 2019, using the event to engage with customers and introduce developments across its product portfolio. The group has more than five installations in India, including machines from Quantum, which is wholly owned by Fosber, as well as Fosber-branded equipment.
“India is a special market because of its large consumption of packaging goods and boxes,” Singh said. Fosber primarily serves the higher-volume segment, serving customers that want greater production capacity, consistent quality and specialized packaging solutions, he said.
Expanded machinery portfolio
At IndiaCorr Expo, Fosber presented its S-Line and Pro-Line ranges, alongside a newer machine concept that combines lamination and corrugation in a single unit.
The S-Line range is available in multiple speed configurations, including models rated at 350, 370 and 420 meters per minute. The expanded range is intended to serve manufacturers seeking higher productivity and production flexibility. The Pro-Line remains another part of the company’s established corrugator portfolio.
The combined laminator-corrugator concept offers manufacturers the ability to undertake both conventional corrugated production and lamination work on the same machine. According to Singh, this could allow converters to broaden their product offerings without installing separate equipment for the two processes.
The approach is particularly relevant to manufacturers looking to move beyond standard corrugated boxes into higher-value laminated packaging. By combining the two capabilities, converters could improve factory utilization, reduce production time and access additional revenue opportunities.
Fosber expects this concept to offer potential in India as packaging manufacturers explore ways to increase value addition and improve margins.
Modernization reshapes the Indian market
Liu described India as a dynamic market with considerable scope for further growth. He sees opportunities for Fosber to deepen its presence as packaging producers expand capacity and upgrade their facilities.
One development is the consolidation of the corrugated packaging industry, with larger domestic and international groups acquiring businesses and establishing modern manufacturing plants. This is changing investment priorities, with greater emphasis on production efficiency, automation and consistent output quality.
The emergence of younger, second-generation business leaders is influencing the industry’s direction. Liu said these entrepreneurs were increasingly interested in modern factories and intelligent production systems, including the potential use of artificial intelligence.
For machinery suppliers, these changes create opportunities to offer equipment that combines higher output with improved process control and manufacturing efficiency.
Sustainability and quality drive investment
Fosber sees India’s growing focus on sustainable packaging and higher-quality corrugated board as favorable for its machinery business. As customers demand better-performing packaging, manufacturers need equipment capable of producing consistent board quality at commercial scale.
The company’s focus on high-volume production aligns with the requirements of larger converters serving expanding packaging markets. Its broader portfolio, meanwhile, is intended to provide customers with options for different production requirements and higher-value applications.
With more Indian packaging businesses investing in capacity and technology, Fosber looks to build on its existing installations and expand its reach. IndiaCorr Expo provides a platform for the company to present its machinery developments and engage with converters assessing their next phase of investment.
