In its maiden participation at Anuga FoodTec in Mumbai in August, Ahmedabad-based Uma Converter showcased its range of flexible packaging solutions, emphasizing its capabilities in rotogravure printing and large-scale production.

The company, which has been in the flexible packaging industry for over 25 years, used the platform to showcase its product portfolio and connect with potential clients across various sectors. The company has attended the event as a visitor in previous years.

Speaking about the company’s background and operations, Mithun Gohil, AGM – marketing at Uma Converter, said, “We are a flexible packaging company with a capacity of around 1,000 metric tons of production every month. Our infrastructure includes four rotogravure printing machines, three-layer extrusion blown film lines, slitter rewinders, apart from coating and lamination machines. This allows us to serve a wide spectrum of packaging requirements.”

Uma Converter’s products on display included a lineup of roll forms, standard pouches, box-bottom pouches, and bulk packaging solutions. “We can manufacture any type of flexible packaging, from roll forms to pouches, including bulk pouches of 5 kg, 10 kg, and 20 kg,” he explained. “Our solutions provides to industries such as pet food, FMCG, pharmaceuticals, and more.”

In the conversation, Gohil exhibited confidence in the continued growth of the rotogravure printing segment. “The rotogravure industry is growing at a rate of about 15-18% annually,” he noted. “Digital printing has its place, but it’s mainly suitable for small-volume, short-run jobs. For bulk requirements, rotogravure remains unmatched in terms of efficiency and cost-effectiveness.”

Asked if Uma Converter had any plans to adopt digital printing technologies, Gohil said the company is firmly focused on expanding its rotogravure capabilities. “As of now, we don’t have any plans to enter digital printing. Our future investments will be in enhancing our rotogravure production capacity,” he said.

Looking ahead, Uma Converter is preparing for further expansion to meet the growing demand in the flexible packaging sector. “We are planning for an expansion, possibly around 2026.”
