Mumbai-based Nipra Industries will, for the first time, participate at drinktec Munich in September and drinktec India in November, marking an important step in its push to expand its business, executive director Nikhil Jain told Packaging South Asia.
Nipra is India’s leading aluminum closure stock converter engaged in the manufacturing of aluminum roll-on-pilfer-Proof (ROPP) closures, printed aluminium sheets and printed tinplate sheets. Its main customers are in the beverages segment, mainly in the alcoholic beverages (alcobev) space.
The company has so far focused largely on the domestic market but now generates 25-30% of its revenue from exports. “For four decades, we were mainly a domestic player, but in the past 15 years we have built a strong export base across Africa, South and Central America, and Southeast Asia,” Jain said.
The company has exhibited at international shows such as Andina Pack in Colombia, RosUpack in Moscow, and Pack Peru in Lima. However, drinktec Munich represents a larger global platform where Nipra hopes to connect with brand owners and potential buyers from Europe and beyond.
In Munich, Nipra will highlight its established portfolio for spirits and wine, while in Mumbai it will showcase a new line of pry-off crowns for beer and soft drinks, launched earlier this year. Jain said the company wants to consolidate the product in the Indian market before offering it for exports.
With six manufacturing sites across India and a possible new facility under consideration, Nipra is positioning itself to meet rising demand in the alcobev sector. Jain said the post-pandemic recovery and India’s young consumer base are fuelling growth, while premiumization trends are opening opportunities for specialized packaging.
On competition, he observed that Nipra can often outprice Chinese suppliers despite some tariff disadvantages in Southeast Asia, citing cost competitiveness and a focus on quality. Locally, the company also serves emerging Indian alcobev brands and startups investing in premium packaging to differentiate themselves.
As Nipra steps onto the drinktec platform, it aims to leverage its domestic scale and growing export reach to build deeper connections in international alcobev markets, Jain said.
drinktec Munich 2025 will take place from 15 to 19 September 2025 at the Messe München in Germany while drinktec India 2025 is scheduled for 13 to 15 November 2025 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (BEC) in Mumbai.
