Flint Group, a global provider of print consumables for the packaging and printing industries, has announced its presence at Flexo Summit Asia 2026, scheduled for 5–6 August in Bengaluru, as a gold partner.

Upal Roy, managing director of Flint Group Packaging Solutions for India, South Africa, and the Middle East, informed Packaging South Asia about the company’s sustainable manufacturing approach and its expectations from the show.

Speaking on Flexo Summit Asia, he said, “The packaging industry is evolving rapidly, making it more important than ever to stay informed and connected. Events such as the Flexo Summit Asia provide an excellent opportunity to learn from industry experts, exchange ideas with peers, and gain practical insight into the technologies, regulatory developments, and sustainability trends shaping the future of flexographic printing. It helps create opportunities to build relationships across the value chain. Those conversations often lead to new ideas, stronger partnerships, and innovative approaches that benefit the entire industry.”

Success in today’s packaging industry depends on collaboration across the entire value chain. Sustainability, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency cannot be achieved in isolation. They require close cooperation between brand owners, converters, suppliers, and technology partners.

The company hopes to demonstrate that innovation extends beyond new products. It includes technical expertise, regulatory guidance and practical solutions that help customers improve productivity, reduce environmental impact and prepare for future market requirements.”

A team will be available to discuss Flint Group’s range of products for flexible packaging, paper and board, and narrow web applications. Additionally, to discuss the importance of inks designed specifically for food packaging and other regulatory topics.

Sustainability and changing regulatory requirements have become central to almost every customer discussion. Printers and brand owners face sustained pressure to demonstrate measurable environmental progress while meeting increasingly complex legislative requirements.

According to Roy, sustainability expectations extend beyond individual operations. Companies are scrutinizing the full value chain with increased emphasis on supplier performance. Support for reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions remains important. However, Scope 3 emissions are often the largest contributor to overall carbon impact. Therefore, transparent data, lower-impact formulations, and supply chain collaboration can be decisive factors in supplier selection.

At the same time, regulatory frameworks continue to evolve across the region. Customers are seeking partners who actively monitor these changes, anticipate future requirements, and provide compliant solutions without compromising performance. In this environment, technical expertise, transparency, and proactive engagement are critical,” he says.

In flexible packaging, demand for solvent-based chemistries that meet evolving regulatory and sustainability expectations is critical, and Flint Group has developed the products required to address these requirements.

In water-based paper & board, he explained, interest in recyclable and compostable fiber-based formats remains strong. Its bio-based technologies, such as TerraCode Bio, support paper and board converters seeking measurable sustainability gains without compromising performance. Barrier coatings also represent an important area of progress, helping to replace multi-material structures, improve pack functionality, and advance more sustainable packaging design.

In sheetfed offset, fiber-based folding cartons are gaining interest among brands seeking alternatives to plastic while maintaining a strong visual impact in robust packaging formats without compromising print quality, productivity, or regulatory compliance. In narrow web labelling, Flint’s EkoCure dual-curing inks continue to support converters in a smooth transition to the growing interest in UV LED, and its low-migration inks continue to evolve within the food packaging landscape.

Speaking on markets, he said there is a growing interest in fiber-based packaging, driven by perceptions of recyclability and a structural shift towards recyclable, resource-efficient packaging across all substrates. “At the same time, flexible plastic remains highly efficient and supports formats that enhance convenience and consumer appeal. When designed for recyclability and supported by appropriate waste infrastructure, flexible packaging can deliver environmental performance.”

Regulatory requirements for food safety, chemical compliance, and recyclability continue to evolve and vary by region. Strong technical and compliance expertise is essential to help brands navigate this complexity. Overall, the market is shifting towards smarter, more sustainable design across multiple substrates rather than towards a single-material solution,” he concluded.
