Koehler Paper, a Koehler Group company, is hereby announcing that the Epson TM-T88VI receipt printer delivers first-rate results on Koehler’s sustainable and blue-colored blue4est thermal paper. Blue4est represents the latest generation of environmentally friendly receipts and, unlike the traditional receipts used at POS, can be disposed of as waste paper without a problem. In addition, its blue color makes blue4est thermal paper immediately recognizable as environmentally friendly for consumers.

Koehler’s extensive qualification tests confirm superlative printing performance

Koehler Paper’s technical customer service tested the TM-T88VI receipt printer comprehensively for months. Willy Früh, director of the thermal paper division at Koehler, comments, “Our tests have shown that blue4est paper can be used with Epson TM-T88VI printers for perfect results.” Low power consumption and high performance combined with low operating costs make the Epson TM-T88VI receipt printer an environmentally friendly alternative for the POS receipt printer market. Together with blue4est paper, a sustainable POS printing solution.

Chemistry replaced by physics as the right choice for the environment

Koehler Paper is an industry leader in the field of thermal paper and started investing in the development of an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional POS printing years ago. The raw material for the paper comes from FSC‐certified sources. With blue4est, Koehler Paper has developed a thermal paper that works on conventional thermal receipt printers without the need for chemical color developers.

And this is because the company succeeded in replacing the traditional chemical reaction with a physical reaction instead, without the printout fading even when exposed to light or moisture. All of this makes the paper extremely durable so that it can be retained for up to 35 years in normal storage conditions. In addition, blue4est is the first thermal paper to be approved for direct contact with food. This is confirmed by the ISEGA certificate that was issued for Koehler Blue4est thermal paper in 2020, making it an excellent choice for food retail operations.

Epson confirms demand for sustainable solutions at POS

A large number of customers are already using blue blue4est thermal paper all over Europe. Epson Deutschland, business manager for business systems Maik Kollmann, explains, “We detected early on that customers wanted sustainable solutions at their POS as well, and with the TM‐T88VI, we’ve delivered a printer that makes it possible to print receipts in an environmentally friendly manner. Moreover, the Epson TM‐T88VI gets first‐rate results on the Koehler Paper sustainable blue4est thermal paper. We have the ideal printing settings ready for users, who can ask for them at any time from their Epson partner.”

Additional printer generations are set to follow and will continue focusing on sustainable service lives and low consumption. They will be tested with environmentally friendly Blue4est paper during the development phase and be launched with a corresponding certification.

Epson will be at the “EHI Technologie Tage 2021” conference in Bonn on November 9 and 10, 2021, where they will promote their future‐proof receipt printer with Koehler Blue4est thermal paper.

The impact, resilience, and growth of responsible packaging in a wide region are daily chronicled by Packaging South Asia.

A multi-channel B2B publication and digital platform such as Packaging South Asia is always aware of the prospect of new beginnings and renewal. Its 16-year-old print monthly, based in New Delhi, India has demonstrated its commitment to progress and growth. The Indian and Asian packaging industries have shown resilience in the face of ongoing challenges over the past three years.

As we present our publishing plan for 2023, India’s real GDP growth for the financial year ending 31 March 2023 will reach 6.3%. Packaging industry growth has exceeded GDP growth even when allowing for inflation in the past three years.

The capacity for flexible film manufacturing in India increased by 33% over the past three years. With orders in place, we expect another 33% capacity addition from 2023 to 2025. Capacities in monocartons, corrugation, aseptic liquid packaging, and labels have grown similarly. The numbers are positive for most of the economies in the region – our platform increasingly reaches and influences these.

Even given the disruptions of supply chains, raw material prices, and the challenge of responsible and sustainable packaging, packaging in all its creative forms and purposes has significant headroom to grow in India and Asia. Our context and coverage engulf the entire packaging supply chain – from concept to shelf and further – to waste collection and recycling. We target brand owners, product managers, raw material suppliers, packaging designers and converters, and recyclers.

In an admittedly fragmented and textured terrain, this is the right time to plan your participation and marketing support communication – in our impactful and highly targeted business platform.
