In the fast-paced and exacting world of healthcare, there is no room for ‘missing links’ in the supply chain—especially when it comes to sterilization and patient safety. As Avery Dennison India’s VP and GM for South Asia Saurabh Agarwal said last week at the TAF-Connect Aspa conference in Mumbai, total security in any supply chain can only come from end-to-end track and trace.
According to its press release dated 23 March 2026, Avery Dennison is offering another innovation its sterilization portfolio. The company says, that for the first time in the healthcare supply chain suppliers and practioners can implement ‘tagging at source’ that survives the harshest environments, ensuring every instrument and pharmaceutical product is accounted for from day one.

Avery Dennison’s new RFID inlays — AD Minidose U9 Steri, AD Accessory U9 Steri, and AD Shelter Steri — are built to endure autoclave and ethylene oxide, with AD Shelter Steri offering the added resilience to withstand Gamma-radiation. Each of these products has undergone successful testing on various common substrates such as PP syringe, glass vial, PP panel and glass panel substrates. The company says that by eliminating manual retagging, human errors are reduced and medical staff can focus entirely on patient care.
The AD Steri product line is designed for medical and healthcare applications that require sterilization under harsh conditions. These inlays maintain RFID performance and data integrity after exposure to sterilization processes.
The AD Steri portfolio withstands the most common sterilization methods used for medical devices and hospital supplies, including: Autoclave – Resistant to high-pressure steam at 121 °C for 20 minutes; Ethylene Oxide (EtO) – maintains performance after chemical vapor sterilization cycles; and, Gamma radiation – withstands high-dose ionizing radiation without damage or loss of RFID functionality. These capabilities ensure reliable tag performance and data integrity throughout the sterilization process.
The applications and use cases include surgical instrument tracking and identification; RFID tagging for sterilized medical devices; secure traceability for pharmaceutical packaging; dfficient inventory control through sterilization workflows; and, compliance monitoring in regulated healthcare supply networks.
The AD Steri portfolio currently includes the following products: AD Accessory U9 Steri — Autoclave- and EtO-resistant; AD Minidose U9 Steri — Autoclave- and EtO-resistant; AD Shelter Steri — Autoclave-, EtO-, and Gamma-resistant. Comprehensive overviews of all features and technical specifications are available in the respective data sheets. A Quick Guide to pharma and healthcare RFID labels is also available online.
Designed for substrates PP, Glass Vial, PP Panel, and Glass Panel substrates, Avery Dennison inlays and tags are compliant with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management and ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management, which ensures a reliable and state-of-the-art product that meets a variety of application needs.
