At the Labelexpo India 2024, Jitender Pal Singh, CEO of Kurz India, highlighted the company’s innovative product lines and its commitment to sustainability, showcasing advanced technologies that promise to transform the label industry.
Speaking about the company’s highlights, Singh stated, “Kurz has always been a leader in innovation, and this year we were proud to showcase some of our latest product lines that were recently launched at drupa and are now being introduced in India for the first time.” Among these innovations are the Silver Line product line and the globally successful 6-micron product line, both of which represent significant advancements in label technology.
Silver Line provides particularly elegant diffractive effects and offers new possibilities for packaging design. Silver Line offers 3D effects but does not create a shimmering rainbow effect. Silver Line creates a special optical depth with unique motion and contrast effects that arise from its three-dimensionality. The new line is suitable for creating reflective and matte structures that provide a simple, yet very stylish and effective finish for products such as premium cosmetics.
Focus on narrow web labels segment
Singh emphasized the importance of the narrow web label segment, describing it as a cornerstone of Kurz’s product portfolio. “The narrow web label segment is the largest and most critical for us globally. It’s where we have consistently led the market with our cutting-edge solutions,” he said.
Sustainability at the Core
A key highlight of Kurz’s presence at Labelexpo India was its patented 6-micron technology, which exemplifies the company’s focus on sustainability. Singh explained that this innovation reduces poly thickness from 12 microns to 6 microns, cutting material usage by 50% and lowering environmental impact.
“The reduced thickness not only benefits the environment but also offers practical advantages to customers,” Singh noted. “For the same roll size, customers get double the length of poly, enabling longer production runs without interruptions, thereby increasing productivity and reducing handling costs.”
Impressions of the expo and market prospects
Reflecting on the event, Singh shared mixed feedback. “The first day saw relatively low footfall, but picked up later. Labelexpo is a pioneer show, bringing the entire label industry ecosystem under one roof. However, greater marketing efforts, especially on social media, could attract a broader audience, including professionals from the printing and packaging sectors.”
Looking ahead, Singh expressed optimism about the Indian market’s potential over the next couple of years, pointing to growing interest in innovative and sustainable solutions in the label industry.
