Print grad SG Ajay, the owner of PM Offset, started out as a freelance print service provider along with a friend. Although the business flourished and generated profits, after about three years, in 1999, Ajay split with his friend and started PM Offset in a rented 1,000 square foot space in Bengaluru. PM Offset’s first press was a 4-color Mitsubishi purchased second-hand from Malaysia. “There was a huge scope for 4-color printed work in Bengaluru back then. With increasing urbanization, and few multicolor printers available, I was getting orders from around the city. I thought initially that the press would have frequent breakdowns, and in turn, hurt my delivery schedule, but the press worked extremely well. I never faced any issues,” says Ajay. The press is still running, and Ajay says that he has never faced any issues apart from the occasional breakdown. The press still produces 55,000 sheets in a straight 8-hour print run.
