Meerut-based Print Wave Packaging, previously known as UGS Transmen, diversified into packaging printing in 2019 to expand its in-house publishing and commercial printing operations. The 80,000-square-foot establishment in Partapur, spread across two floors, produces books, brochures, catalogs, monocartons, litho-laminated cartons, and corrugated shipper cartons.

Started by brothers Neeraj Jain, Pankaj Jain, and Hans Jain, the family’s second generation—Vaibhav Jain, Samyak Jain, Arjav Jain, and Sambhav Jain—has joined Print Wave’s operations. According to Neeraj Jain, the new generation has made the organization more dynamic, scientific, and aggressive.

A repeat user of refurbished Heidelberg machines, Print Wave Packaging installed a Komori GL740 C+IR UV Advance 7-color offset press with a coater last year. According to the Jains, the new press can print up to 16,600 sheets an hour. The press is equipped with KHS AI and PDC SX features, which assist with auto color registration combined with color matching and calibration. It also reduces changeover time by switching jobs in 15 minutes.

According to Arjav Jain, the 7-color printing units can print up to three colors at once, along with four base colors, while keeping the quality consistent. They have features such as Metpet with drip-off textures and UV glosses. Apart from high-quality prints, the Komori machines are economical and offer good post-purchase service, the Jains said.

Apart from the Komori, Print Wave has a refurbished Heidelberg 8-color perfector, three refurbished Heidelberg 4-color presses, and a refurbished Heidelberg 2-color press. The packaging printer added several machines in 2025, including two automatic die-cutters from Eterna (which has a partnership with Bobst) and Robus; two automatic folder gluers from Robus; one automatic film lamination machine from Suba Solutions; and a reel-to-sheet cutter from Haosheng. The Robus folder gluer is a 4-, 6-, and 8-corner machine with back folding, a 90-degree turn, and catch covers.

The older machines include a paperboard knurling machine, two wet lamination machines, one Robus automatic die-cutter, two die-cutting machines with digital double hot foil pullers, one Robus folde

r gluer with pre-folder and lock bottom, two Polygraph automatic paper-cutting machines, two semi-automatic paper-cutting machines, four automatic paper-folding machines, two Bindwel six-clamp perfect binding machines, two Polygraph automatic 3-side trimmers, a paper punching machine, and a spiral closing machine. According to the Jains, the Bindwel six-clamp perfect binders ensure quality and speed in perfect binding.

Print Wave Packaging has a monocarton production capacity of 400 tons per month, serving the pharmaceutical, FMCG, sports, and electronics segments. Its clients from Meerut, Delhi-NCR, Dehradun, Rudrapur, Himachal, Haryana, and Uttarakhand include names such as Wipro, Sston, Philips, Surya Lighting, Havells, DCM Sugars, Laborate Pharmaceuticals, and Patanjali, among others.

Packaging industry – challenges & opportunities

According to the Jains, while India’s packaging industry is growing with plenty of opportunities, it comes with its fair share of challenges. The first challenge is maintaining consistency in lots. Neeraj Jain said offset printing technology is still largely manually controlled in India, affecting color consistency and overall box quality. The Komori machine, he said, has been able to match each lot.

In Jain’s opinion, hypercompetition is another challenge. “Our goal is to retain customers by providing the best service and quality so that customers don’t search for other vendors.”

The rise in the cost of raw materials due to the Gulf turmoil is another challenge. “Price fluctuations across all raw materials, including paper, films, chemicals, and inks, affect day-to-day operations. Once everything settles down, things will go back to normal,” he said.

With USPs such as quality services and timely deliveries, Print Wave Packaging aims to cross Rs 100 crore turnover by the end of FY2027–28. The company, the Jains said, maintains consistent quality by using high-quality consumables and raw materials—paper from ITC, Century, and Khanna Paper; inks from Siegwerk and DIC; Technova offset plates; and Bocher and Technova chemicals.

Capacity addition and area expansion are in the pipeline. Future plans include an automatic corrugation plant for liner cartons and new printing equipment for shorter runs.

Silver Line Packaging

Silver Line Packaging, a sister concern of Print Wave Packaging, produces corrugated cartons. The establishment has an imported 45-inch e-flute single phaser, and a 65-inch narrow or b-flute single phaser for the production of litho laminated cartons and shipper cartons.

Based in Meerut’s Shatabdi Nagar, Silver Line Packaging has a manual pasting machine, a 2-color printing RS-4 rotary slotter, and two stitching machines. It has a capacity of 300 tons per month.

With clients based out of Meerut and Delhi-NCR, Silver Line Packaging and Print Wave Packaging have a combined distribution of 60% monocartons and 35% litho laminated cartons. The remaining 5% are labels, leaflets, and brochures.

“The monocartons industry is big and growing. There is an increased demand for packaged products. But competition is also rising. Our target is to stand against competition and keep the growth path at an exponential trajectory,”  the Jains said.

The company plans to penetrate deeper into the FMCG monocartons and corrugated cartons segments to increase its market share.
