Packaging industry insiders have been reading about Bobst events in Asia, including a recent event in Malaysia. It was only a matter of time before Bobst held a knowledge event in the national capital of India on 21 April 2017. The event was well attended mostly by flexible packaging converters and by some brand owners and raw material suppliers.

Covinil, a well-established converter based in Spain is the first company to invest in the new Bobst integrated solution for the conversion of AlOx high barrier transparent films. This includes the new K5000 vacuum metallizer demonstrated to global converters in Manchester in the UK, just before the K exhibition in Dusseldorf in October 2016.

Marbach Asia Pacific, the subsidiary of the Marbach Group in Malaysia, has recently installed a new Bobst diecutting machine that will stay at the company for at least two years. The global manufacturer of cutting-dies can now showcase its tools in action on the Bobst Novacut 106 ER. The machine is equipped with all the important features, such as quick lock frames, 1 mm plate exchange system with micrometric adjustment and, most importantly, a blanking unit.

Nagpur-based Sushant Packaging, the sister concern of Paragon Packaging, recently installed a Bobst Lila II 106A-2 folder-gluer and a Heiber + Schroder Speedliner to strengthen its production lines in terms of automation, better quality, reliability, versatility and performance. “Our association with Bobst dates back to 2007, when we bought our first new  diecutter—a Bobst SP102,” says SA Nagmote of Sushant Packaging. This is not the first time that the company has purchased  high-end, fully loaded heavy metal from top equipment manufacturers. In fact, the company, which began operations in 2007, has invested in increasing capacity  almost every year not only in the pressroom, finishing and postpress, but also in its prepress capabilities.

The BOBST stand at K 2016 (#A39, Hall 4) will be dedicated to providing inspiration to plastic film converters on how to achieve excellence in process performance and substrate functionality. The benefits of doing so include better product quality, new substrate functions to offer clients, and improvements in the economics of plastic substrate production.
