Henkel Adhesive Technologies India (Henkel India), the leading solution provider for adhesives, sealants and surface treatment and a fully owned subsidiary of Henkel AG & Co., was honoured at Frost & Sullivan’s Sustainability 4.0 Awards 2016 with the ‘Challengers Award’ under the Large Business, Corporate Category for Sustainability. This award was presented to Sundar Iyer, CFO of Henkel India and other team members from the company on 27 May 2016 at Mumbai.

Kotkamills is launching its new range of consumer board products – the folding boxboard range will be covered by the AEGLE brand and the food service range by the ISLA brand. The standard board ranges will be launched in July 2016 when Kotkamills’ new board machine starts. The option of water-based dispersion coated barriers will be added in the autumn. The new machine will for the first time allow barrier coatings to be applied directly on the carton board machine as part of normal production.

This year’s ‘Olympiad’ of the printing world was a clear sign of a digital takeover and the spread of packaging across the halls marked progress towards industrializing technologies that in 2012 were in niche applications or at the concept stage. Likely industry-changers for packaging sprang from expected sources, others from lesser-known names, but one idea worth backing as a winner at drupa 2016 was the brainchild of a new player in the emerging sector of virtual 3D packaging design.

At the DuPont stand at drupa there were a great number of solutions including digital inks, textile printing, flexo imaging, processing and plate materials and anti-counterfeiting technologies. We focussed on the flexo plate and security solutions in our brief time at the stand. We were on our way for a second visit to the stand on 6 June when there was a disruption that prevented access to halls 8A and 8B for a few hours.

CRON is demonstrating a new inking system for sheetfed offset presses at drupa (Hall 5 Stand B24) which will bring new levels of efficiency to offset printers. The new EZcolor system not only reduces waste and enhances quality but also brings down the point at which short-run offset becomes profitable. In this way, EZcolor is positioned to challenge digital print’s established stronghold on runs of just a few copies.

At drupa 2016, HP has introduced a range of digital printing solutions designed to empower print service providers (PSPs) to reinvent  their possibilities. With the largest exhibit space at the show, the company is unveiling its new HP PageWide C500 Press, a flexible and robust industrial post-print corrugated solution powered by HP PageWide technology. It is also showcasing the new HP Indigo Digital Combination Press, enabling HP Indigo print and digital embellishments in a single pass.

Noida-based Nutech Packagings has become India’s first company to sign a deal with Monotech Systems for the Scodix E106, which was launched at drupa 2016. The new digital press, which will be shipped in Q2 2017, will be installed at Nutech Packagings’ 1,200,000 square-foot green plant in Greater Noida. However, Nutech will be allowed to use a Scodix Ultra at its plant till the E106 arrives. Nutech has asked for some customization of the Scodix E106 to fit its needs.
