KBA-Flexotecnica will be showcasing the new CI flexo NEO XD LR hybrid press at drupa 2016 at the KBA stand (Hall 16 Stand C47-1). The press offers up to 12 colors, a cut-off from 400 to 1,200 mm, a maximum web width of 1,650 mm and a maximum printing speed of up to 500 metres a minute.
Epson’s focus on sustainability — monozukuri and sho sho shein
At the pre-drupa show in Dusseldorf last month, the hot topics included environment and sustainability. And it is in this domain where Epson really stands out from the rest based on following the principles of monozukuri and sho sho shein. The company revealed its long-term strategy for reducing waste – an on-site instant recycling system called PaperLab.
DuPont to show Cyrel EASY technology
DuPont Advanced Printing (DuPont) will be highlighting DuPont Cyrel EASY flexographic printing plate technology and its newest equipment offering at Hall 8B StandC21 at drupa 2016. Cyrel EASY simplifies the prepress process by building the flat top digital dot directly into the plate, resulting in increased productivity and consistency. Visitors to the show will be able to view the complete Cyrel EASY plate portfolio which is available for thermal and solvent-free processes with engineered or smooth surface.
Atlas Converting to demonstrating Titan SR800
Atlas Converting Equipment will present its range of primary and secondary slitter rewinders as well as the latest generation of the Titan SR800 Series slitting and rewinding technology at drupa 2016. In the development of the SR800, Atlas focused its product development strategy on achieving reductions in machine downtime for printers and converters, including reduced set change time, lower operator intervention and also reduction of costly waste materials.
Hunkeler’s extraction, shredding and compacting process
Hunkeler Systeme will present a complete system solution to rapidly remove all production waste with a proper extraction, shredding and compacting process at drupa 2016 (Hall 2 Stand B14). In the Müller Martini stand there are cut-offs, trimmed waste and dust from six saddle-stitcher and perfect-binders to properly evacuate and compact bales for transport. Production waste-systems from Hunkeler Systeme are all working with negative pressure from the point of collecting on to the end of the process. In addition, the line is equipped with both the Energy Saving System (ESS) and with the Automatic Switch Off System (ASA). Both systems allow energy savings up to 40% of the total consumption and are only active when the suction system is needed.
Online repository to store, share color libraries
X-Rite Incorporated, one of the global leaders in color science and technology, and its subsidiary Pantone, has introduced the PantoneLIVE Private Cloud, a secure, cloud-based repository that allows packaging converters and commercial printers to easily store and share existing proprietary color libraries across the color supply chain. The new offering is part of the PantoneLIVE ecosystem designed to digitally communicate color, accurately between brand owners, designers, premedia, ink suppliers and printers. It removes any ambiguity when communicating color specifications across the workflow process. This enables converters and printers to deliver consistent color and meet customer expectations each and every time.
Esko Software Platform – Packaging simplified
In a press release dated 23 March 2016, Esko says it has completely updated its software solutions, relaunching them as the Esko Software Platform. This is the next version of Esko’s well-known portfolio of integrated software solutions for design, prepress, workflow automation, color management and supply chain collaboration used for packaging, labels, displays and signs. The full range of innovations and integrations of Esko Software Platform will be demonstrated for the first time at drupa, scheduled for May 31 through June 10 in Düsseldorf and be commercially released beginning June 2016.
Removing odours in fresh fish packages
Funded within the programme EEA Grants through CDTI, the project EPS-FISH makes it possible to remove odours in fresh fish packages for their recycling and recovery. EPS FISH has been developed by Acteco and Aimplas, with really good results, since the recycled material obtained has been validated by means of manufacturing XPS and EPS insulating panels with adequate physical-mechanical properties.
First IppStar-PackTech India conference in Mumbai from 16 to 17 December 2016
Messe Düsseldorf India and IppStar have agreed to jointly organize a two-day conference on 16 and 17 December 2016, alongside the biannual International PackTech India / FoodPex India at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai. While the PackTech India / FoodPex India will take place from 15 to 17 December 2016, the first annual IppStar-PackTech India Packaging Design, Innovation and Technology Conference will take place at the conference hall at the same site on 16 and 17 December.
