Healthcare Packaging EXPO, the successor to the most comprehensive pharma event in years, will be co-located with PACK EXPO Las Vegas this fall in Las Vegas Convention Center from 25 to 27 September. Produced by The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies (PMMI), Healthcare Packaging EXPO is expected to lead the way in packaging innovation for pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device manufacturers.

Faridabad-based Skypack India during its second participation at interpack focused on promoting its new tube laminates. Along with its tube laminates and laminated tubes, the company also promoted its flexible packaging solutions such as lidding films, 3- and 5-layer co-extruded blown films, 3-layer cast films and preformed pouches. The company offers packaging solutions to both food and pharmaceutical industries. In terms of infrastructure, Skypack has 6-, 8- and 9-color rotogravure printing machines, capable of printing a variety of substrates including, PET, BOPP, paper and LDPE. For converting packaging films, it has Nordmeccanica solventless lamination machines, slitters and pouching machines. It also has a tubing machine and a tube printing machine.

In the beginning of April, a heavily discounted registration for the largest ever Pack Expo Las Vegas and co-located, Healthcare Packaging Expo has begun. Produced by PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, this quality event convenes the biggest gathering in North America of suppliers and manufacturers of goods, including pharmaceuticals and medical devices, in a powerful way that drives innovation.

Domestic US shipment of packaging machinery is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 2.4% reaching US$ 8.5 billion in 2020, according to a report by Pack Expo owner and producer, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies (PMMI).

Surat-based Alpha Plastomers, manufacturer of flexible packaging solutions like shrink films and specialty films, marked it presence for the first time at Pack Expo International 2016.  Alpha has two manufacturing plants located at Daman and Roorkee. At Pack Expo, it displayed a variety of solutions that it can provide to the US flexible packaging industry.

As a step towards marking a greater presence in the North American market, Noida-based BOPP major Max Speciality Films Limited promoted a range of solutions at the Pack Expo International, held in Chicago from 6–9 November 2016, for the first time. The company was present at booth E 10240 Lower Lakeside Center at the McCormik Place, North America’s largest convention centre.

Hyderabad-based flexible packaging major Shrinath Rotopack marked its third presence at Pack Expo that was recently held in Chicago. In the US, the company operates its subsidiary Shrinath Rotopack Americas and has its office in Hoffman estates in the state of Illinois. “We currently have a very small presence in the US with food industry being the most important sector for us,” said Vijay Bhaskar Reddy, business development manager, based out of the US office.

Flex Films (USA) Inc. is a subsidiary of India’s largest multinational flexible packaging materials and solution company Uflex Limited and has been a regular exhibitor at Pack Expo International. The company concluded a successful 2016 edition that was held in Chicago from 6–9 November. Flex Films is the film manufacturing arm of Uflex with production facilities at strategic locations across the globe like India, UAE, Poland, Egypt, Mexico and USA.

Vasai-based Vista Packaging, involved in the manufacturing of packaging films as well as in converting, exhibited at Pack Expo for the second time. In terms of films, the company produces CPP films, high barrier films and lidding films. When it comes to offering packaging solutions, it manufactures preformed pouches, rotisserie stand-up pouches and food grade paper boards. Close to 80% of Vista’s business is derived from exports, so it is the overseas market that is of extreme importance to them.

The Innovation Stage at Pack Expo International and Pharma Expo 2016 from 6 to 9 November at McCormick Place in Chicago has produced the largest on-floor education program since its inception in 2012, with 71 Innovation Stage sessions across four stages, featuring new technology and advances from all segments of the processing and packaging market.
