Wiliot
Wiliot will focus on ambient IoT market education, highlighting how Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)-based sensing and data streaming complement RFID

Wiliot, a pioneer of ambient Internet of Things (IoT) technology, has joined the advisory board of the Auburn University RFID Lab – a globally recognized research and development center advancing RFID and other related technologies across industries including retail, logistics, and aviation. Amir Khoshniyati will represent Wiliot on the board.

The Lab’s Advisory Board, which includes more than 30 companies from across the technology and end-user ecosystem, provides expertise to help advance the industry. Wiliot’s addition underscores the growing importance of continuous, real-time visibility technologies in today’s supply chains.

“RFID has laid the foundation for today’s connected supply chains,” said Amir Khoshniyati, Wiliot’s head of Strategy and Business Development. “Now, with ambient IoT, we’re building on that foundation – introducing continuous sensing, automated intelligence, and real-time data flows that allow enterprises to see and understand their operations with new levels of clarity. It’s an honor to contribute to the Lab’s work in setting the standards and frameworks that will shape this next era of supply chain intelligence.”

As part of the board, Wiliot will focus on ambient IoT market education, highlighting how Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)-based sensing and data streaming complement RFID to deliver continuous, AI-ready visibility across supply chains.

“RFID and ambient IoT are deeply connected,” Khoshniyati continued. “RFID has been critical for event-based visibility, while ambient IoT adds continuous sensing and AI-ready data. Together, they create a more complete, more intelligent picture of global supply chains.”

Ambient IoT represents the next major evolution in visibility technology – enabling a network of battery-free, Bluetooth-based sensors that capture real-time data on the location, temperature, humidity, light, and condition of goods as they move through the supply chain. This continuous stream of item-level information forms a new data layer for AI systems, allowing enterprises to make faster, more accurate, and more sustainable decisions.

A founding member of the Ambient IoT Alliance, Wiliot is leading this transformation. Its technology is already deployed at scale with some of the world’s largest enterprises – including Walmart, which is leveraging millions of Wiliot IoT Pixels to enhance supply chain efficiency, inventory accuracy, and cold chain compliance.

Wiliot’s participation in the Auburn University RFID Lab ecosystem reflects a shared commitment to advancing standards, interoperability, and education in connected supply chain technologies. Wiliot’s ambient IoT sensing technology is already active in the Lab’s research environment, and a dedicated Wiliot showcase is planned for early 2026, where visitors can experience live demonstrations of ambient IoT in action.

Wiliot powers the supply chain with continuous, scan-free visibility into item location and condition. The Wiliot Intelligence Platform processes signals from battery-free Bluetooth sensors (IoT Pixels) in the Wiliot Cloud using purpose-built AI and ML models. This enables real-time automated condition monitoring, inventory intelligence, and workflow optimization.

Avery Dennison, a global leader in materials science and digital identification solutions, is also in a partnership with Wiliot to scale the manufacturing, performance, and market reach of Wiliot’s ambient IoT technologies worldwide.
