FIG
The FIG team with partners during a press meet at Loupe India

Flexo Image Graphics (FIG) showcased its large and still growing portfolio of printing, converting, prepress, and inspection technologies at Loupe India 2026. Celebrating 26 years in the industry, the company highlighted its partnerships with global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), including Rhyguan, Mark Andy, XSYS, Luster, and DCM ATN, with a focus on improving productivity, reducing waste, and strengthening quality control for Indian converters.

The company’s product offerings range from prepress to press and finishing solutions for OEMs in the US, Europe, and Asia. FIG obviously works hard for its OEMs since it has installed at several dozen of most of the machines it sells and supports in India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

One highlight at FIG’s stand was the launch and live demonstration of the Rhyguan Smart-420 HRI, a bidirectional, fully automatic 100% inspection system with slitting and rewinding capabilities. FIG also presented the Rhyguan Top-330 Plus-2 converting machine, which supports spot and full varnishing, cold foiling, lamination and die-cutting in full- and semi-rotary modes. The machine is aimed particularly at digital label printers and converters seeking to increase the capabilities of their existing roll-to-roll presses.

Another very interesting machine is the Rhyguan Smart+ Luster automatic inspection machine, which FIG said has more than 70 installations across India. The system incorporates Luster’s VisionPrint 8 (VP8) AI-powered visual inspection software, designed to improve inspection accuracy, simplify operation and reduce setup time.

FIG held a press meet to outline its wider technology partnerships while strengthening its relationship with Mark Andy for label printing solutions and XSYS for printing plates, sleeves and plate-making equipment for the label, flexible packaging and corrugated segments.

Improving the productivity of existing assets

In the press meet, Gaurav Roy, managing director, FIG emphasized that the company’s approach goes beyond equipment sales, focusing instead on helping converters improve the performance of their existing assets. “One of our main ideas is how to increase the productivity of existing assets,” adding that improving quality and reducing waste remain central to the company’s approach.

Florian Stroe, technical sales manager at Mark Andy, described India as an important growth market. He highlighted the company’s HD 1200 high-speed digital printing series, capable of running at speeds of up to 145 meters per minute, with variable-data printing at full speed. Stroe also emphasized the potential of hybrid digital and flexographic technology for converters seeking higher productivity and greater application flexibility.

Responding to PSA’s question about manufacturing or assembly in India, Stroe said Mark Andy was exploring opportunities to expand its manufacturing operations internationally, although no specific plans had been announced.

Roy Schottelle, vice president of sales for APAC at XSYS, outlined the company’s portfolio of printing plates, sleeves and plate-making equipment for flexible packaging, labels and corrugated applications. He noted that XSYS had expanded following its acquisition of MacDermid Graphics last year.

Prasenjit Das, general manager for South Asia at XSYS, highlighted the company’s thermal plate-processing technology, including the XSYS Lava 4260, being demonstrated at the exhibition. He also introduced the ThermoFlex Edge imaging system, which can image up to 50 square meters per hour. Das said thermal technology could support faster turnaround times, just-in-time plate-making and sustainability objectives, while solvent-based solutions would remain part of the company’s portfolio.

Other partners presented developments in converting and inspection. Jason Elvery of DCM highlighted fully automatic shrink-sleeve inspection and slitting solutions, while Happy Cao of Zhejiang Rhyguan Machinery discussed finishing equipment and inspection systems for adhesive labels, films and shrink sleeves. Carrie Duan of Luster LightTech presented the company’s eighth-generation inspection systems incorporating artificial intelligence to improve defect detection and simplify quality control.

The discussion with the press also addressed intensifying competition in India, where converters increasingly seek advanced technology at competitive prices. Roy noted that the market’s growth was accompanied by greater pressure on converters to diversify into adjacent segments, including flexible packaging and labels.

The press meet reinforced FIG’s strategy of combining international technology partnerships with local market support to help converters improve productivity, maintain quality, and respond to evolving packaging requirements.
