We recently visited UV Graphics, a leading manufacturer of UV curing systems, printing, and allied machinery. UV Graphics manufactures several machines that are used in label printing, finishing, and converting, such as narrow web flexo presses, rotogravure machines, combination presses (flexo+offset/gravure), slitter rewinders, digital finishing machines, die-cutting, semi-rotary printing and die-cutting, and flatbed die-cutting machines.

The company recently manufactured a digital printing and finishing hybrid printing press with four flexo stations, a 7-color inkjet, and a 2-color embellishment system for digital finishing, which it will launch in Labelexpo India in 2022. This machine produces all kinds of labels, on paper and film face stocks and sleeves, shrink, in-mold, heat transfer, and wet-glue labels. It can produce high-quality labels for FMCG, pharma, liquor, cosmetics, electronics, and other requirements.

Abhay Datta, director of U V Graphics, says, “Today, we are recognized as a number one company for the quality flexo label presses in India. We are the first Indian company to export 10-color flexo machines to North America and have supplied some of our machines to some European countries. The 10-color flexo machine is the first Indian machine to enter America. Flexible packaging companies are now moving with narrow web flexo machines for medium and short-run jobs. And I have converted several gravure printers who have bought flexo machines from us. In April 2022, we entered the digital market by introducing our digital press, which will be launched at Labelexpo India 2022.”

“We have established two new factories in Noida near the main plant – one is ready, and another will be ready by the end of this year. The purpose was to expand the product portfolio and the area we need to increase productivity because we are getting many orders. We are adding more innovative machines to our offerings, such as high-speed die-cutting and hot-foil stamping machines.”

At Labelexpo India 2022, UV Graphics will be showcasing its two Vetaphone VE-A 520 models on its narrow web Ultraflex flexo line and two VE-A 460 models on its Ultraflex hybrid line and its digital finishing machine. All the Vetaphone corona treaters at Labelexpo India have intelligent 2KW Vetaphone iCorona generators and are fitted with four ceramic electrodes in each unit.

Datta concludes by saying, “Our expectation for Labelexpo India 2022 is to meet with customers, show them our equipment and interact with them. The last Labelexpo India in 2018 was a fantastic show for us. We received six to seven orders during the exhibition, and we hope this year’s event will be a great exhibition for us.”

The impact, resilience, and growth of responsible packaging in a wide region are daily chronicled by Packaging South Asia.

A multi-channel B2B publication and digital platform such as Packaging South Asia is always aware of the prospect of new beginnings and renewal. Its 16-year-old print monthly, based in New Delhi, India has demonstrated its commitment to progress and growth. The Indian and Asian packaging industries have shown resilience in the face of ongoing challenges over the past three years.

As we present our publishing plan for 2023, India’s real GDP growth for the financial year ending 31 March 2023 will reach 6.3%. Packaging industry growth has exceeded GDP growth even when allowing for inflation in the past three years.

The capacity for flexible film manufacturing in India increased by 33% over the past three years. With orders in place, we expect another 33% capacity addition from 2023 to 2025. Capacities in monocartons, corrugation, aseptic liquid packaging, and labels have grown similarly. The numbers are positive for most of the economies in the region – our platform increasingly reaches and influences these.

Even given the disruptions of supply chains, raw material prices, and the challenge of responsible and sustainable packaging, packaging in all its creative forms and purposes has significant headroom to grow in India and Asia. Our context and coverage engulf the entire packaging supply chain – from concept to shelf and further – to waste collection and recycling. We target brand owners, product managers, raw material suppliers, packaging designers and converters, and recyclers.

In an admittedly fragmented and textured terrain, this is the right time to plan your participation and marketing support communication – in our impactful and highly targeted business platform.
