Nippon Color, which specializes in offset printing, flexographic printing, and digital printing technologies, will promote HD platemaking technologies and digital label printing & finishing solutions for label converters at Labelexpo India 2022

The company will display samples of digital flexo plates imaged on Cron, Screen, and Luescher flexo CTP systems and processed on Glunz & Jensen flexo plate processors. The company has recently been authorized to sell Screen’s UV inkjet digital label printing solutions and will showcase samples printed on the Screen Truepress Jet SAI series. Nippon Color has also partnered with Fujifilm for its water-washable flexo solution, and it will be also displaying the water-wash processor on its stand M-23 at Labelexpo.

Akshat Pardiwala, COO, said, “This is the first time we are exhibiting at Labelexpo India, and we are excited to meet label converters looking for a digital set-up to complement their flexo presses to cater to the short-run and personalization demands of labels. Predominantly being in the offset industry since 1972, we have seen a trend of commercial printers migrating to labels and packaging for expansion. Moreover, with the commercial printing industry declining, the packaging segment has offered print providers an opportunity for growth due to a boost in eCommerce.

“Digital label printing & finishing allows you a very short time to market, with virtually no make-ready time and waste. To support print providers in this transition, we have added multiple digital label printing & finishing solutions and are thrilled to present them to our customers. The Expo works as an excellent platform for understanding customers’ requirements.”

Flexo is likely the biggest process used in some packaging segments, such as flexible packaging and corrugated labels, Pardiwala said.

“Flexo printing is continuously improving through developments in plate technology, advanced methods to mount plates, and developments in anilox rollers, inks, and curing systems. The market requires eye-catching printed packaging of brands with spot colors. However, flexo has improved most of the analog print process with developments across all stages, from design to finishing. HD flexo imaging in pre-press is allowing gravure-like print quality. While quality is improving, the time and cost of approving artwork and producing plates are reducing”, he concluded.
