Innovative Flexotech manufactures photopolymer flexo platemaking equipment and flexo printing machinery. Started in 2002, the company has crossed the milestone of 4,000 customer installations of flexo equipment across the globe.

Innovative Flexotech claims to have disrupted the flexo equipment segment in India time and again. Alpesh Thakkar, director Innovative Flexotech talked to Packaging South Asia correspondent Priyanka Tanwar at the recently concluded IndiaCorr Expo, “Innovative Flexotech basically manufactures three main products – flexo plate-making machines, flexo printing machines, and solvent distillation. In the flexo plate-making machines, the product is utilized in the printing pre-press mainly for packaging. For any of the automated corrugation plants who like to set up in-house prepress. This is a product where we excel. We have installed more than 1,000 machines across India for corrugated packaging prepress trade shops.”

The Ahmedabad-based enterprise has regularly participated in the IndiaCorr Expo for the last 9 years. Thakar added, “IndiaCorr Expo is being held after the Covid-19 pandemic after a gap of two years. The main purpose of the event is the chance to meet our customers one-to-one. I am sure it is a good experience and better than we expected. A lot of people have visited our stand to make enquiries.”

Thakar further shared that good service and complete flexo solutions are the USP of the brand which set it apart from companies manufacturing similar products. He continued, “We are not a solution of only product, we are giving an edge. ROI is our main goal – whatever the customer does, it will give you a return on the solution. Normally, companies offer only one-year ROI-based solutions. If they want to be in-house, our main goal is it should be return on investment for them and it is a complete training and turnkey solution for them. In our fifteen years of experience, our main purpose is to provide a completely in-house set-up from prepress to platemaking.”

Innovative Flexotech showcased its model ETWD3040 4 machine (size 30-inch by 40-inches) at the IndiaCorr Expo. It is an exposure, washout, drying treatment, and waste solvent distillation solution including the machine for waste solvent recycling.

The enterprise garnered a positive response at the event with many existing customers making a beeline to its booth. Thakar goes on, “One of the important customers for us is Flexon which is Delhi-based. They have a tradeshop product and they have placed orders for the 200-liter solvent distillation device. We have concluded many other deals during this show.”

The company managed to stay afloat during the global Covid-19 crisis and Thakar claims that the company is in a better production state than it was before the pandemic hit. He is looking forward to the upcoming show Printpack in the next 90 days, where Innovative Flexotech will showcase its flexographic product range including its new technology CI Flexo press.

“For us, there has been a huge change in the industry –  what people are especially looking for is high-end flexo quality with the most effective prices. We are offering the most competitive range of prices as compared to the Chinese flexographic printing presses. Many of our customers are not ready to import the machinery from Chinese manufacturers and prefer to purchase Indian machinery from Innovative Flexotech,” Thakar concludes.

The Covid-19 pandemic led to the country-wide lockdown on 25 March 2020. It will be two years tomorrow as I write this. What have we learned in this time? Maybe the meaning of resilience since small companies like us have had to rely on our resources and the forbearance of our employees as we have struggled to produce our trade platforms.

The print and packaging industries have been fortunate, although the commercial printing industry is still to recover. We have learned more about the digital transformation that affects commercial printing and packaging. Ultimately digital will help print grow in a country where we are still far behind in our paper and print consumption and where digital is a leapfrog technology that will only increase the demand for print in the foreseeable future.

Web analytics show that we now have readership in North America and Europe amongst the 90 countries where our five platforms reach. Our traffic which more than doubled in 2020, has at times gone up by another 50% in 2021. And advertising which had fallen to pieces in 2020 and 2021, has started its return since January 2022.

As the economy approaches real growth with unevenness and shortages a given, we are looking forward to the PrintPack India exhibition in Greater Noida. We are again appointed to produce the Show Daily on all five days of the show from 26 to 30 May 2022.

It is the right time to support our high-impact reporting and authoritative and technical information with some of the best correspondents in the industry. Readers can power Packaging South Asia’s balanced industry journalism and help sustain us by subscribing.
