Gerresheimer has been commissioned by a customer to produce plastic containers in which the active ingredient dexamethasone is to be filled. According to a study, the active ingredient can reduce the mortality of people who are seriously ill with Covid 19. The medical journal and other media recently reported that the World Health Organization (WHO) had called for an increase in the production of the active ingredient dexamethasone.

Headquartered in Düsseldorf in Germany, the manufacturer of primary glass and plastic packaging p roducts for medication and drug delivery kept its customers supplied globally amid the coronavirus crisis. With special products made of glass and plastic, the company contributes to health and well-being. Gerresheimer is represented worldwide, and with around 10,000 employees produce where its customers and markets are and has packaging manufacturing plants in Europe, America and Asia (including India as well).

“Thanks to globally standardized processes and technologies, we can produce flexibly, locally and sustainably. This also includes optimizing procurement and transport routes for our customers,” says Jens Friis, vice president Europe and Latin America at Primary Plastic Packaging, responsible for sales. “For the packaging of dexamethasone, we supply 100ml drug cans with closures. “He explains that already in December 2019 the first mold was successfully transferred to the production site in Vaerloese, Denmark, to be able to supply local European markets optimally.

The Covid-19 pandemic led to the country-wide lockdown on 25 March 2020. It will be two years tomorrow as I write this. What have we learned in this time? Maybe the meaning of resilience since small companies like us have had to rely on our resources and the forbearance of our employees as we have struggled to produce our trade platforms.

The print and packaging industries have been fortunate, although the commercial printing industry is still to recover. We have learned more about the digital transformation that affects commercial printing and packaging. Ultimately digital will help print grow in a country where we are still far behind in our paper and print consumption and where digital is a leapfrog technology that will only increase the demand for print in the foreseeable future.

Web analytics show that we now have readership in North America and Europe amongst the 90 countries where our five platforms reach. Our traffic which more than doubled in 2020, has at times gone up by another 50% in 2021. And advertising which had fallen to pieces in 2020 and 2021, has started its return since January 2022.
