New compact press ready for carton printing
Heidelberg introduced its new B2 press, the Speedmaster CX75, at an open house at its Wiesloch factory in early April. The press, which fits in between the highly automated XL models and the SX 74 is also described as an XL75 Lite press. The press will receive its official launch at China Print and is expected to ship in November. The 15,000 impressions an hours press to be sold in 4 to 6-color configurations with coater and UV options has double-circumference impression cylinder that makes it a carton printing machine. It will be officially presented at China Print in Beijing in midMay, where a Speedmaster CX 75 4-color press with innovative DryStar LED technology from Heidelberg will be showcased.

Two of most active printing associations in the country announced at a press briefing on 13 April 2017 at Mumbai, that printers are compelled by current circumstances to raise the prices of their services across the board in order to stay afloat. After the agitation by corrugated box manufacturers and their industry associations regarding the recent hikes in liner prices, the Bombay Master’s Printers Association (BMPA) and Mumbai Mudrak Sangh (MMS) together with All India Federation of Master Printers called on the media to help them reach print buyers to apprise them of the urgent need to revise print prices upwards.

According to Heidelberg’s numbers released after Q3 of financial year 2016-17, the company is still on course to increase its annual profits. The FY 16-17 Q3 operating result (EBITDA) and net result after taxes improved further compared to the same quarter of the previous year although the nine-month sales were still below the previous year’s levels, as expected.

In a daytime function on 24 February 2017, Parksons Packaging inaugurated its fifth monocarton plant in the Sri City industrial township located about 90 kilometres north of Chennai. Board and team members, family and friends bore witness to the auspicious launch of another purpose-designed and comprehensively fitted factory. With an initial capacity of printing and converting 500 tonnes of board to monocartons each month, the capacity is expected to double by the end of the calendar year with the installation of a second Heidelberg CX 102 press.
