At this year’s AIPIA & AWA Smart Packaging World Congress in Amsterdam on 20–21 May 2026, the team from Identiv, a publicly traded Internet of Things technology company, dive into the technologies and infrastructure shaping the next phase of connected packaging and digital product passports (DPP).
Klaus Simonmeyer, vice president of strategic accounts EMEA at Identiv, will participate in two sessions focused on the practical realities of secure digital identities, NFC-enabled packaging, and DPP implementation as brands prepare for evolving EU requirements and increasing demand for product transparency.
His first session, Secure Digital Identities and the Future of Smart Packaging on Wed, 20 May at 9:30am CEST, will explore how secure NFC and RFID technologies are enabling scalable smart packaging applications across authentication, traceability, and consumer engagement. He will be joined by Narravero’s Dagmar Zoder, and will discuss how connected packaging experiences are helping brands strengthen trust, improve transparency, and unlock actionable product lifecycle data.
Klaus will also join a panel discussion titled DPP Not for Dummies: A Deep Dive into the Digital Product Passport taking place on Wed, 20 May at 11:25 am CEST, alongside leaders from GS1 Netherlands, EM Microelectronics, Scantrust, and Spotd.com.
The conversation will push beyond high-level DPP discussion into the real-world implementation challenges brands and solution providers are facing today; from governance structures and technical standards to compliant data carriers, interoperability, and category-specific EU requirements expected over the next 12–36 months.
In addition to the sessions, Identiv will be exhibiting at AIPIA and showcasing its latest connected packaging and secure identity technologies focused on DPPs, product authentication, and consumer engagement.
