Avery Dennison Label and Packaging Materials will showcase its latest pressure-sensitive labelstock and adhesive film products at Labelexpo India 2016. Innovations at its stand will include TT Sensor Plus, a smart label that records time and temperature, allowing pharmaceuticals and food manufacturers to monitor their products throughout the supply chain; case tamper evident labels that change color upon contact with clear adhesive tape, alerting package handlers and recipients to instances of tampering and unlawful opening of cartons during transportation; bio-based PE film, which is made primarily from sugarcane ethanol and is part of Avery Dennison’s extensive range of sustainably sourced materials; and the Select Solutions Mix and Match service that leverages the company’s expertise in helping customers find the right labeling solutions
for specific application needs, including specialty and challenging label constructions. It allows converters to request a precise combination of adhesive, face material and release liner.

Held every three years during eight days in October, this year’s event attracted some 230,000 visitors, including almost 30,000 from Asia. While the total number of visitors was up from around 220,000 at previous shows, the Asian numbers were slightly down, mainly due to a steady decrease in visitors from India as reported by the organizers (9,000 as compared to 10,000 at K2013 and 11,000 at K2010). The number of exhibitors from India also was down to 104, from 145 at K2013. Out of the total of 3,285 exhibition stands (a number growing by a few dozens from show to show), 752 were taken by Asian companies, of whom 400 from China and Hong Kong, 127 from Taiwan, 46 from Korea, 30 from Japan, 17 from Malaysia and 28 from Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, Pakistan, Australia and New Zealand.

The international jury of Pentawards, the first worldwide competition devoted exclusively to packaging design, chaired by Gérard Caron, has announced winners for the year 2016. This year, which celebrates the 10th anniversary of Pentawards, the winners received the global awards in Shanghai’s design hotel Hyatt on the Bund, where more than 250 designers and brand owners from 24 countries around the world were present.
