Hindusthan National Glass & Industries (HNGIL), a Madhvani-Turner Group company, will invest Rs 280 crore to expand its Bahadurgarh manufacturing facility in Haryana, doubling the plant’s production capacity from 300 tonnes per day to 600 tonnes per day within the next 60 to 90 days, the company said.
The investment comprises Rs 180 crore in capital expenditure and Rs 100 crore in operating expenditure over the next three years.
The expansion is expected to create substantial new employment, strengthen HNGIL’s manufacturing footprint in North India and add momentum to Haryana’s industrial economy.
A senior HNGIL delegation led by chairman Shrai Madhvani met Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini and briefed him on the company’s investment and expansion plans in the state. The delegation included Mihir Madhvani, director Nitin Gadhia and chief strategy officer Suraj Mehta.
Discussions covered the Madhvani-Turner Group’s global manufacturing footprint, the acquisition and revival of HNGIL, the expansion of operations in Haryana, collaboration with the state government under the Make in India and Make in Haryana initiatives, industry requirements and ease of doing business.
Spread across around 50 acres, the Bahadurgarh plant is one of HNGIL’s key manufacturing sites in North India. The expansion is expected to significantly raise the plant’s contribution to the company’s future revenues and establish it as a key manufacturing hub in the region.
HNGIL has seven manufacturing plants across India. Apart from Bahadurgarh, the company’s plants are located in Rishra near Kolkata, Rishikesh, Neemrana, Naidupeta, Nashik and Puducherry.
“We are grateful to the Chief Minister for his support and for the opportunity to share our plans for Haryana. Our decision to invest Rs 280 crore in Bahadurgarh and double the plant’s capacity within 60 to 90 days reflects our confidence in Haryana as a manufacturing destination and our commitment to creating jobs and supporting the state’s economic growth,” said Shrai Madhvani, chairman, HNGIL.
“The Madhvani Group brings more than a century of industrial experience and a global manufacturing perspective. We see significant potential in Haryana and want to work closely with the state government to build a modern, efficient and globally competitive manufacturing platform, in line with the vision of Make in India. As part of our broader strategy, we also aim to invite global companies across the glass value chain to invest and manufacture in India, while building strategic partnerships with leading international glass companies. We see an opportunity to create a stronger, globally integrated glass manufacturing ecosystem in India, bringing investments, technology, capabilities and employment opportunities to the country.,” he added.
The Bahadurgarh investment is part of HNGIL’s wider revival and expansion programme following its acquisition by Independent Sugar Corporation Limited (INSCO), backed by the Madhvani-Turner Group, through the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code process. The group has outlined an ambition to invest Rs 10,000 crore in India over five years, with HNGIL forming a central part of its manufacturing strategy.
The group’s India plans were discussed at a meeting between senior Madhvani-Turner Group leadership and prime minister Narendra Modi in June 2025. Founded in 1914 by Muljibhai Madhvani, the group has a legacy of more than 110 years. Prime minister had earlier met members of the Madhvani family during his 2018 visit to Uganda and encouraged the group to participate in India’s growth story.
Established in 1946, HNGIL has a legacy of 80 years and pioneered India’s first fully automated glass manufacturing plant. It is today one of the country’s leading container glass manufacturers, with facilities across India and a growing presence in international markets.
